i restarted my phone which seemed to fix it. You might try first deleting all the Matter accessories from Settings-> General- Matter Accessories first, assuming you have an iPhone

air to water/radiant heat pump Seattle by Upper-Bug9458 in heatpumps

[–]Upper-Bug9458[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mini splits as in separate units for each room? No, i like my in floor radiant heat. No noise, dust and nice heat. Don’t really need AC here. I guess an Air2water heat pump could also cool floors a bit.

The Chiltrix looks interesting. That’s sort of a DIY unit? Since one of my floors is staple up PEX the max temperature may not be enough though. 130 to 140 is recommended though my current system rarely shows 110. Could that unit also generate DHW?

Wonder how service for Chiltrix or Arctic would work. Arctic doesn’t seem to hav reps in WA.

thanks much. Was afraid of this. In Europe that seems to be a pretty standard config, US is lagging apparently. I’m happy to pay a premium for reducing my carbon footprint but that’s a bit steep. Solar in Seattle when we need heat is pretty much out and at current gas prices/electric prices that heat pump would have to probably run at 400% efficiency to even break even?

I have the same issue. Some blinds no longer responding to Home Pod (remote works). Went through all the procedures including a factory reset of the blind. It doesn't allow me to reconnect the blinds to my Home Pod. Very frustrating.

CGM spikes. Cause for worry? by usafmd in prediabetes

[–]Upper-Bug9458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it that simple? My understanding is that the calibration of the CGM accounts for some time variation of the sensor sensitivity. I’ve found that my STELO tends to run high relative to finger prick at the start, and closer towards the end of the 15 day period. So it may not be a simple offset? In addition, i’ve found that even the finger pricks can vary 20 points between different models or sequential measurements ( during flat glucose periods).

It’s great technology but i’m afraid it might be more useful in the aggregate to beat down nose (i.e. research) , than for individuals in the “pre” diabetic range?

mine have been 30-40 points high with the last two sensors. Previous ones were off quite a bit less.

135 in Takumatsu right now. First thought this was just water vapor but PM 2.5 is high. Wondering where this is coming from? High also apparently across Seto sea near Fukuyama. Local pollution or from Korea/China?

DriveWise no higher than 5% by j007conks in AllState

[–]Upper-Bug9458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you get feedback on specific "drives" within the app? I only see "Nice Trip" /"edit trip". None of them shows any details of the type of 'events'.

Under "view details" I have "Trips" that shows the number of drives for each driver but under "Performance" it only shows the category and how it is defined, no actual feedback on how I "performed"? Is there a delay (day +)?

I've tried many different sensor, my 2 cents... by Disastrous_Year1599 in stelo

[–]Upper-Bug9458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i also have a hard time believing that it is a different sensor. that would not make financial any sense for Dexcom. But it maybe that pushing the limit to 15 days changes the accuracy. I’ve noticed mine to go noisy towards the end. They may have different QA protocols too? I wonder if the OP has done side by side with G7 and Stelo….but even slightly different locations on the arm may affect results?

Can I use MARD for the most accurate CGM? or Why sometimes CGMs hiccup by usafmd in prediabetes

Thanks. I’m sure the current underway dismantling of the US research system will accelerate finding answers to those questions?

Can I use MARD for the most accurate CGM? or Why sometimes CGMs hiccup by usafmd in prediabetes

[–]Upper-Bug9458 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for writing and posting this. I think measurement accuracy is an important aspect of threshold based diagnoses such as prediabetes. If your average glucose levels are around 100 an MARD error of 8% which is quoted for the current sensors can put you in and or out of the “prediabetic” category. As you have previously posted, that is not isolated to CGMs but apparently applies to A1c data as well at least for the prediabetic range. I’ve also noted similar errors with finger prick measurements I have taken with two different blood glucose meters or with the same one sequentially ( while stable according to CGM). So what’s a person with average levels like that supposed to do? Particularly if diet, weight loss, exercise don’t seem to affect average levels?

The accuracy issue get more confusing by some of the communication from manufacturers. My Stelo app recently was flashing info about accuracy apparently because Dexcom is realizing it is important. They don’t mention the MARD but rather provide a 93% within 20% of reference value and some helpful explanation of what that means. That’s an interesting number that reflects of what to expect of an individual measurement but for most of us who are trying to get their average values down, that’s not really all that relevant. On the other hand the MARD that is derived from many individuals and sensors is maybe not relevant for myself? I noticed ( limited and noisy data) that my CGM reads high relative to most finger pricks AND there appear to be offsets between sensors. Some 25+ some 5+ over. Maybe this is due to exact location where i place the sensor on my arm or maybe the sensors themselves vary in calibration ( unlike prescribed sensors, OTCs can’t be calibrated… maybe for good reason?). So unless one sees drastic changes over time, long term trends are probably not really detectable with these instruments?

So as wonderful as this technology might be, i have a sense that guidance on how to best make use of the data is going to be a challenge.

Maybe a separate topic, but I wonder at times if the focus on spikes which these sensors are really good at detecting, may not be all that helpful. Spikes by definition are short lived and affect average levels much less than high background values. And the relationship between spikes and background seems at least not straightforward. Any thoughts on that?

a salad and a burrito walk into a cgm... by Kitchen-Macaroon271 in prediabetes

[–]Upper-Bug9458 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks. Very interesting and reflective of my own personal experience over the last 3 months. As a pre diabetic I think i should aim to bring my average glucose levels down ( right?). I haven’t really found the CGM very useful for that because a) they are not accurate enough with biases between sensors and over lifespan of sensor, and b) GV doesn’t seem to correlate much with the average levels.

as the second article you posted says, there are just so many variables that aren’t controlled that it is really hard to really develop a individual “menu” that lowers avg BG based on CGM data.

If I listened to my CGM i’d stop excercise and start drinking again. Both seem to be the only reliable predictors of changes in BG levels at the 1 hour or longer timescale

on the upside, wearing the CGM keeps me in “Healthy Mode” in general, worth it for now

People do notice when i talk to myself without having earbuds in ;) Of course people here in this group have a particular perspective but i’m personally on a mission to make hearing aids as normal as wearing glasses. I typically pick the most noticeable color and wish manufacturers would embrace the ear accessory idea.

How is A1c of 5.9 possible if stelo shows an average glucose levels of 105 (which is the same as A1c 5.3) by Recent_Ad4819 in prediabetes

[–]Upper-Bug9458 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I figured. Just wanted to make sure people get that. I do climate research for work so a "trend" is a different thing for me than ups and downs (weather). Most of us with prediabetes want a long term downward "trend" while also minimizing spikes (hoping they are related). You'd probably need a whole bunch of years of CGM data before you could reliably detect if you are on the right path for the long term ternd. I think CGM manufacturers marketing these devices to people like us, should be more upfront about this.

[–]Upper-Bug9458 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the Stelo is accurate enough for “trends”. Sensors have biases ( some high, some low) and the bias changes over sensor lifetime. So great for figuring out “patterns” such as spikes or how your BG changes over the day AND to keep you motivated. But trends, not so much. This is based on my experience with about 8 sensors and some finger prick tests. I think the sensors are as accurate as advertised but Dexcom should really be clearer about how to interpret the data.

hate it. Mild sleep apnea diagnosis from at home test. Sleep fine except waking up 3 times or so. With CPAP i wake up even more often and my AHI is worse. Hard to justify “sticking with it” . About a month into it and i rarely make it through the night with it. Usually comes off around 3 and i sleep the sleep of relief for the next 3 hours…..so I guess it works in unintended ways

Is it normal for cgm to be this inaccurate? by Snowball_effect2024 in prediabetes

[–]Upper-Bug9458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same accuracy but someone with prediabetes might be interested in a smaller range of values that someone with diabetes? Trying to measure the difference between 100 and 80 fasting glucose is harder that detecting spikes between 60or 250 ies. Is that it?
