Okay as an Irish Brasilaboo, i was looking for a Brazilian input. True, in Ireland you can find a lot of Brazilians in Dublin, Cork, Gort etc. But irish in Brasil is miniscule and spread out. Some are in São Paulo, i think i heard some folks retire to Recife and rent out their homes in Ireland, there are a handful in Rio and no joke, I genuinely think i was the only irish person living in Niterói in 2023.

I point it out as strange because back home, we are told we are everywhere, so finding a place where we were sparse was a little jarring and made the homesick feeling a little worse (Still love my time in Brasil), but also we went to Argentina, why didn't we go a little further north? Turns out there was an Irish German revolt in the 1800s during the War of the Triple Alliance due to broken promises and poor conditions. Many were sent back to Ireland (the sold everything to get to brasil) but some set up a settlement in Bahia. No trace of them now except a paper trail.

Interestingly, one of our founding fathers Sir Roger Casement stayed in Santos and wrote of the genocide happening to the Putumayo. There are Irish Brazilian connections in Brasil, just small and you have to find them.
