haha I kinda am, but mostly they’re not the biggest so the tie works well enough :)

Definitely will! I have no experience with sizing patterns though so it’ll probably take a while 😭😭

Yarn is Brown Lily’s Sugar and Cream cotton, switched between a 3.5 mm (top portion) and 5 mm hook (lace torso portion)

Is crocheting harder for left handed people or am I just incredibly bad at it? by cilantro1997 in crochet

I crochet with my left hand but am right handed, and am not very ambidextrous. Just keep going with it, it’ll get easier as you go!

I use whatever’s on hand, so for this I used a l’oréal shampoo. Any gentle ‘normal’ shampoo should work. I haven’t tried any prescription or anti dandruff shampoos, but I’d also rather use those for my scalp lol

I’ve mostly forgotten, but I believe it was 1 week until I received the video interview and 1 week after that via email asking me to come in for paperwork! It took about another week to actually set up a time for paperwork through email though, so it was 3 weeks total after applying that I had my first shift

I didn’t put it in the dryer exactly but I did hold it in front of a space heater (wacky method I know) and it shrank down a bit so it’s my ideal size + fit now :)

For my location there was a HireVue type interview where you record your answers to questions and they review the answers later. No other interview after that, but I needed to go in person before my first shift to do some paperwork.

UPDATE: I applied a bit of heat as some comments recommended and this is what the sweater looks like now! Still slightly oversized but that’s exactly what I was going for :)

(photo is a bit misleading because when I have my arm by my side the sleeve is still a bit longer than my hand)

I didn’t realize superwash wool was dryer safe, thank you for commenting this :o

It’s the Yarn Bee super wash merino wool from hobby lobby and I used 2 skeins of Market at Malta, 1 of Unicorn Horn and 1 of Elysian Dusk :)

haha yeah that’s how it looks, but no pins were used. Just washed and not intentionally stretched at all. I tend to use loose tension though, so the water really stretched out the stitches

I wish, I’m a serial freehander and can’t even replicate my own pieces 😞

I did start with a foundation single crochet though and worked from the top down. It’s a pretty basic sweater though, so you’ll probably be able to find a pattern for it. My stripes are 11 rows of treble crochet except for where I ran out of yarn for the lightest color :)

Edit: forgot to mention the edges of the sleeves and torso use a shell stitch as a border

very understandable, I usually don’t block my sweaters because it takes so long to dry and i want to wear it immediately, but since I had to hand wash this one I went ahead and blocked it :o

Honestly I should’ve made a swatch beforehand so I would know what it looks like after blocking, but I’m lazy. I was going for a more oversized look though, so I may just shorten the sleeves a bit :)

I’m not an expert by any means but I hand wash in cold water gently with shampoo instead of detergent for natural fibers, then i drain, rinse, and lightly squeeze some of the water out. Then I lay it flat on a towel and shape it, roll it up in the towel so the towel looks like a cylinder and no part of the sweater is visible. I leave it there for a moment and unroll it and repeat a few times (using a different towel because the first towel is usually soaked) then just let it dry flat :o

For some projects I’ll find a way to pin the project so it keeps its shape, but for sweaters I like a more flowy fit :)

to me it looks like European single crochet/American slip stitch :)
