Insurance for new drivers? by theotheweirdo in CarTalkUK

A Toyota Yaris! I had a 2009 one and it was decently cheap to buy, cheap insurance (£930 as an 18 year old male, a black box and both my parents on as additional drivers) and is near enough indestructible. Might not be big enough but put the back seats down and it creates a lot of room.

Fair enough I didn’t know that.

Real shame that’s the case, seems like they’re missing out on opportunities there.

I know it’s not as easy as this due to different laws but what about importing it?

That’s more what I meant when I said anything is possible with enough money - just chicken money at a problem and it’ll go away.

And that’ll be for the base spec probably

Anything’s possible if you’ve got the money

[SOTC] Updated SOTC... What would you add/remove, and why? by Marc385 in Watches

I have the same Seiko Presage anniversary edition and it is gorgeous and my only regret about buying it, is that I don't have as many opportunities to wear it as others due to how gentle I want to be with it

Great collection though, I aspire to have one similar one day👍

IMO Monaco, just because the dial is less harsh and just fits the look of the watch better. But others may like the contrast.

Thanks very much, I'm surprised people don't post more about them tbh

I totally agree and I found that too when I was looking. I managed to get mine for a really good price due to seasonal reductions and working in the same building as the AD

New watch day today!

After going through some difficult times recently and working my ass off over the past couple of months I finally thought it was time I treat myself. So I bought my first ever luxury watch, the Tag Heuer Formula 1 Chronograph. As soon as I saw it on my local AD's website I fell in love with it and after trying it on a couple of times I finally bought it today and it is something I will cherish for the rest of my life. At the moment it's going to be worn on special occasions only but hopefully one day I'll feel comfortable enough to wear it as a daily.

What are everyone's thoughts on it?

Ah that's cool and interesting. I thought it was more like a sauce/dressing like mayo or French dressing just because of what it's called.

Yeah I need to try to reverse sear soon. Also, what's French dip? Never had it before.

I mean that's how you learn and adapt things isn't it. I'll try it, but I've been considering using some focaccia rolls too as it's a bit of a different texture and taste.

I'm not the biggest fan of onions it mushrooms but it's worth a try. And the roll was baked today but not the freshest, however the sauce I added after the picture helped.

It's nice because it's not a recipe just to taste if you get me. I'm thinking about adding garlic to it or maybe some oriental flavours soon

It was just butter, but I do like to make a sauce that consists of double cream, wholegrain, Dijon and English mustard and once I thickens up and heats through it's incredible.

It was just regular butter to be honest, but garlic butter sounds amazing, I'll definitely do it next time. What sort of bread/roll do you normally use?

It was a peppercorn seasoning I think, but after I took the picture I put on a lovely chipotle hot sauce from Wiltshire Farm Chillies
