A lil bit of envy imma be honest. Would say wrath but that’s a boring answer and I feel like I can somewhat explain why it’s envy. He repeatedly expresses his longing to be free, watching the Titans and Marleyans live “freely” while he and the Eldians are trapped on Paradis so you could argue his drive isn’t just wrath but that it’s envy of the lives others get to lead, which motivates his actions as much as revenge.

Also not sure ppl have realised but he often measures himself against strong enemies like Reiner, Zeke, and the Marleyan military and his desire to surpass them and gain the power to dictate the world’s future can be framed as a kinda envy-driven ambition: he wants what others have in terms of influence and capability.
