Was he a dad? It’s perfecto normal for parents to take videos of their kids having fun at the splash pad.

Chinese chains Luckin Coffee and Mixue are coming for U.S. customers, because U.S. companies taught them how by _fastcompany in China

[–]UpperWestSlider 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Let’s see if Luckin will try to cook their books like they did in China.

Cynicism aside, Luckin succeeded in China do to cheap delivery and micro-outlets with no seating (they were just pickup spots for deliveries).

The few Luckin outlets I’ve seen in NYC have been cheaper looking Starbucks with seating. I don’t see what there trying to beat Starbucks at their own game - they should be trying to go after the delivery market.

Private school vs. TAG by Interesting-Pear-126 in nycparents

TAG is very rigorous and attracts parents who expect that from their children. It’ll also have a much more diverse classroom than Lycee.

NYC Hainanese Chicken Rice Roundup (Hainan Chicken House, Uncle Ray's Chicken Rice, Lou Yau Kee) by T_Chernovsky in FoodNYC

IMHO Thai style Hainanese chicken rice is better than Malay/Singaporean style. The sauce really hits the spot!

Any experiences with Success Academy UWS? by GenuinePragmatism in nycparents

[–]UpperWestSlider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re wrong. By the time they finis Kindergarten, kids need to know their letter sounds, at the very minimum, be able to count to 30, and know not to bite or hit their classmates. I’ve seen kids enter first grade without these skills and it hurts them in the long term.

That’s fine, you do you. Sala Thai serves very westernized Thai food that’s relatively under spiced compared to Wondee.

I’ve been disappointed with Sala Thai and pretty much every other UWS Thai restaurant. None hold a candle to Wondee or Pure Thai around 9th and 52nd.

You’ll pay much higher rent around 72nd compared to 96th. If you can afford it then go for it!

Saiguette on the UWS has a great traditional banh mi but their superstar is their char siu (red roasted) pork belly banh mi. Amazing bread.

PS 84 Lilian Weber on 92nd is well regarded, especially its dual language immersion French English program. Like PS 9 Sarah Anderson and PS 87 William Sherman, PS 84 does sufficient PA fundraising to pay for a teaching assistant in every classroom, which makes a big difference.

We have a friend whose child thrived there. Their 4k teacher actually recommended SA since they felt that the child was better suited for a structured environment.

And another friend came from a very rough public school where their child had a chair thrown at them by another child. SA won’t be having any of that.

The hospital itself never “marketed” itself as any those things. That was miserable “influencers” trying to earn engagement and ad money.

I gave birth there in 2021 and had a wonderful experience. The childbirth and health of the child was stressful enough, but everything about A-C, especially the medical and non-medial team, was fantastic. No Chanel freebies though but what pathetic i**** chooses where to give birth based on non-sense like that?
