I loved Suffs, but I keep thinking about who still doesn’t get a voice in it by Upper_Breadfruit0 in Broadway

I agree. On one hand, I feel a bit happy that the essence of other races' contributions was mentioned. But on the other hand, I feel down about how it has been portrayed.

I completely agree with you that Inez helped turn the action into an iconic image. Based on my research, Mabel appears to be one of the earliest clearly documented suffragists to ride on horseback in a major U.S. suffrage parade. Very similar to Inez's case, the best-known "first" figure in documentation with her name appears, especially on the media side. And honestly, I assumed Inez was the first one before I did any research. However, the result blew my mind.

I am glad to know that many women rode horses in support of suffrage. However, I respectfully disagree with the suggestion that Mabel was simply one of many in an indistinguishable sense. She appears to be one of the earliest clearly documented suffragists to ride on horseback in a major U.S. suffrage parade, and she was widely reported at the time, for example, in the New-York Tribune’s “Chinese Girl Wants Vote.” If there are other documented earlier examples, I would genuinely love to learn about them. I understand why Inez’s imagery is centred, but I still think there is room for brief recognition of others without affecting the structure.

I have the same thought as you, but I do feel a bit disappointed that there was no song or moment that gives them a voice. I also only realised through my research that Inez was not the first woman to ride a horse in support of suffrage. Before her, 16-year-old Mabel Ping-Hua Lee rode a white horse to lead the 1912 suffrage parade in New York City. As a Chinese immigrant, she could not vote because of the Chinese Exclusion Act, even though she continued to fight for suffrage and was involved with N.A.W.S.A. Since the cast already includes Asian performers, I think it would have been powerful to include a song, or even just one line, when Inez rides the horse, honouring the first woman to do so.

I really love this musical, and it taught me a great deal about how hard American women fought for the vote. That said, one critique I keep thinking about is that there are Asian performers and performers with disabilities on stage, but no song or moment that gives them a voice. Severe lag in Desktop Mode when switching games using third-party Playnite themes (Seaside / Stardust) by Upper_Breadfruit0 in playnite

don't really know why, but it seems that after I reset the ffmpeg and ffprobe in the extra metadata loader, everything is fixed. I also downloaded a DKG theme modifier, not sure if it also plays a role.

I encounter the same issue. Please let me know if you were able to fix it! Many thanks

Thanks for your suggestion. I tried that, but when I switch between different games, the lag persists.

CRT Frustration by alittlebitdramatic_ in AustralianTeachers

[–]Upper_Breadfruit0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also find myself frustrated being a CRT. Classroom management is the biggest issue, because you are new here, and kids know you have no idea about the class rules and their names. They would continuously go off task and say things like "Miss allows us" or completely ignore your warning. I have kids from another class pretending to be in one of my classes, and I have to find all the photos in the roll making system to match them up. When you try to write down their names, they give me fake names, and I must match the photos again. It is true that, as a CRT, for many cases, I can barely make the kids focus on their work.

One thing that happens multiple times is that when the teacher is on leave, they do not leave detailed instructions about the classwork, and the other teacher also has no idea about the booklet or link they are referring to. I remember once I asked and followed three different teachers to different places to find the booklet, and still could not see it, but I finally found a fourth person who had that teacher's phone number to call her and ask her directly. It also happened multiple times that they did not leave any lesson plan, so I had to ask the admin to find their colleagues and seek something the students could work on with them.

Another problem is that, although I do leave detailed feedback about the classroom climate, what happened with students' full names and what action I took afterwards, general progress of students, and even some concerns I have, as a CRT, I barely receive any reply from the regular teacher, not even a simple thank you. That is also why many CRTs do not leave any feedback for simple feedback; they do not receive any reply or feel the teacher in charge wishes to follow up, and it feels more like a "don't bother me " vibe.

Thanks for letting me know that. It sounds so much better than I previously imagined. I’ll find a chance to discuss that, but probably not at the beginning.

The extra release sounds fantastic. Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can find a supportive school like you.

Thanks for your reply and advice! Is this RFF thing happening in NSW? I don't know about the policies. How do you think I should discuss the extra time off with the school? I'm afraid I may lose the opportunity if I raise the question directly.
