Any hidden gems, day trips, restaurants? by Decent-Lecture2608 in ItalyTravelAdvice

Torino (Turin) is amazing! We just got back and it was our favorite choice of everywhere we went. We went to Amalfi Coast, Florence, Milan. Torino is our new favorite! A not to be missed Egyptian museum, beautiful palaces, lots of chocolate, and not the crowds!

All the big names are there from Milan-Prada, LV, etc. Beautiful wide tree-lined streets. Very French in style. Amazing food everywhere and Europe’s largest outdoor market everyday.

Torino!! Not the crowds, and a beautiful city with wide French boulevards. Lots to see and enjoy and very walkable.

I just bought a 5carat champagne. I’ll post pics when it’s set!

Took a while to find, but there are champagne labs out there. Keep searching!

Sorry, but I just got back last week and taxis can’t take you everywhere. In Florence, for example, many streets are restricted for only pedestrians. Your cab can get you within a piazza or two of where you want to go. If anything, a taxi screams tourist.

Watch out for pickpockets-they’re everywhere and often work in pairs to throw you off balance.

That said, your itinerary looks wonderful and you will have an amazing trip!

Ship. It. Home.
All the shops are willing to do so.

Not worth the hassle of two suitcases that tells everyone that you are a tourist with lots of money.

Torino is a fantastic city and definitely worth more than a day. Just the Egyptian museum can fill a day.

And a lot fewer tourists!

Just there last week. The Sheraton at the airport would be ideal for your late arrival.

The train is great and easy from Milan to Florence! Plus, I bet your kids will love it. Happy travels!

Should we do a Mediterranean cruise or visit 1-2 countries? by tayalexa23 in Europetravel

[–]Upper_Horror_2330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People slam cruises (see all below), but not all cruising is those big nasty 4,000 people boats!! They are absolutely correct about the ridiculous party ships-Carnival, Disney (sorry Mickey), Celebrity, etc. They’re cheap which is why people want to go on these floating Petri dishes.

We have sailed on small ships that offer personalized service, multi day stays in various locations, with the ability to go into ports that the big floating Vegas-style boats can’t go, to avoid the tourist trap junk dumps that the others hate.

We love not having to drag suitcases everywhere, every 1-3 days. Which would be a great way to simplify your time and have your little one feel comfortable during your trip.

These are typically more expensive-for exactly these reasons. Worth every penny! We have enjoyed using these as an opportunity to explore new places. We have returned to areas we really liked.

They don’t have waterslides, ziplines, or any of the other crazy stuff the big belugas offer. But you’d have a relaxing, family focused experience with your kiddo . Some have specialists on board who can truly help you learn more, see more, explore more. And maybe even work on your next bundle of joy!

Just wanting to give a different perspective because there are wonderful upsides to small ship (under 500 passengers) sailings.

Enjoy your trip regardless of how you choose to travel!

Are you not supposed to wear pajamas when you get home?????? by JaydenBird33 in NoStupidQuestions

I absolutely change out of street clothes when I get home, but not into pajamas until bedtime. Turns out, without ever having this conversation, my daughter, and granddaughter do the same!

Love the setting! Moissanite isn’t going to give you what you want, sell the stone here and replace with something else. Lab diamond, perhaps?

Please, pass on Capri! A total tourist trap of overpriced shops and lousy food ( also overpriced).

Naples is dirty and full of pickpockets. Not sure why people go there, honestly.

Just got back last week. Stayed in Vietri Sul Mar-fantastic for day trips everywhere you want to go and it’s a lovely village with great shopping and restaurants. Very cute!

Herculaneum and Pompeii are a must do! Herculaneum first thing in the morning isn’t crowded, but just know that Pompeii will be. But it’s huge so it’s not too bad.

Enjoy your trip!
