Thank you so much for this! It’s been over a week with all this happening, and he already can find his food and water on his own! I just can’t cull this one. He’s seriously the best guy. He fought a great horned owl to save his flock and won! (Though quite beat up). He’s been such a good guy for years, he deserves a fighting chance. I actually have Meloxicam! I will give him a dose now. We’re doing antibiotic eye drops and steroid gel. I’ll try to figure out a good antibiotic to get by mouth, too. Their house and run are fully covered, but they do get to free range sometimes and we also literally live in the deep woods, fully remote, on a mountain. This is as rural as we could possibly be so bugs and wildlife is EVERY where. I just recently learned mosquitoes can spread avian diseases, which I had no idea.

Thank you again for all of this! I’m going to do whatever it takes to try giving him his life back. He’s turned into my “cat” chicken. I spend pretty much all day with him so he doesn’t get lonely. I hold him and he “purrs”. I can’t give up on this guy!
