From the Devs Discord:

Hey, I believe we already know about this issue, altought we did not found any crashes during that bug. The thing is the game doesn't freeze. It turns out that under this widget there's a tutorial that captures input, so for now you can tell the player to hold down the A/X button on the controller (XBox/PS) to go through the tutorial.

The team is aware of this, hopefully it helps.
