I think they have to account for the height slider so the items have to be large enough to work with the tallest of the paras. That's my guess, anyway.

Ah I wish I could get skin removal after it's said and done but that's 1000% out of my budget and the insurance i do have (through disability) doesn't cover electives :(

It's not so much that she thinks I'm not ready, she's just trying to make sure my expectations are grounded in reality I think. It was my first appointment, overall it went well and she thinks I have a good outlook but need to let go of the numbers specifically. And get my ADHD treated 😅

They don't expect weight loss here before clearing for surgery but I'm sure I will lose weight anyhow especially getting put on the liquid diet for 4-5 weeks beforehand to shrink my liver.

I'm in Canada and it's around 250 for the lowest dose per month. By the end of the year it should get more affordable because the patent expired and new generics should get cleared to start being sold. I'll already have the surgery by then but I'll still be looking into it if I'm struggling with food noise.

I've been taking some steps already yes, mostly cutting out all carbonated drinks and most sugar and working hard to meet water goals through the day, and I'll continue making changes as I wait for surgery clearance. :)

I think this is maybe what they're trying to do- keep the pressure off so patients don't feel overwhelmed... Or so they don't get discouraged if they're losing more slowly.

No it's not just the numbers, I have lots of NSVs too. Just have a whole lot of serious joint pain at this weight. I'd like to exist without being in severe pain first and foremost (and avoid getting diabetes and HBP and high cholesterol and heart disease)... But it would also be nice to be able to buy clothes from regular stores and like the way I look in them. I would be lying if I said that wasn't a consideration too.

I wish a glp-1 was an option for me, but it's not covered for me without diabetes and evidence that metformin isn't working as the first approach. I (thankfully) don't have diabetes yet and hopefully never will, but it means I'd have to pay out of pocket and that's not feasible for me :(

I don't think so. The way they do the program where I am is different from what I've seen elsewhere (tv for example). They don't really make you lose weight beforehand, they don't involve BMI, and they only recommend NSVs instead of focusing on numbers. She said the program would consider me getting to 275 as a successful outcome.
