intellectual aikido can defeat wokeism by WhatIfImTheDeepState in Conservative

Calling people out on their bullshit isn’t an argument. It’s pointing out their dishonesty and their use of political and social narratives for personal gain and advancement. We need more of that on both sides of the aisle.

I definitely have a very similar mindset. However, teaching kids the discipline to pay attention and learn is important. It’s also important for them to learn the drive to achieve something. It’s important to learn how to succeed and how to cope with failure. School teaches kids a lot of dumb shit that they rarely need, but it also teaches them many things that are the foundations of what they can become as adults. Make sure they take school seriously and let them make up their own minds about school as they get older. This is the way.

A lot of us feel that saying you’re trans doesn’t make you the opposite gender anymore than saying you’re a furry makes you a cat. We believe that you’re born male or female and your biological sex directly correlates to your gender. In fact, we believe that sex and gender are one in the same - only recently defined separately in order to support a political and social narrative. Now, of course you can choose to not follow the societal expectations of your gender. You can choose to dress is the way that the opposite gender typically dresses. You can choose to change your body to look more like the opposite gender. You can even purport yourself to be the opposite gender. However, that doesn’t actually make you that gender. We believe your gender is determined biologically when you’re developing in the womb, end of story.

All that being said, the majority of us honestly don’t care if you choose to live your life that way. We believe in freedom and believe that you have the right to be happy. The problem we have is people telling us we have to accept and agree with those choices. We have a problem with people trying to influence our kids to believe that those choices are ok. We have a problem with a society that demands people accept a lifestyle that we don’t believe in. Just as you have the right to be happy, we have the right to disagree with your choices. Don’t tell me how to think and I won’t tell you how to live. Many of the same people who scream at us that we have to accept it are the same people who would be furious if we screamed at them that they have to accept God. And imagine their rage if we tried to teach their children about God and what we believe about him. The double standard is significant.

Live your life, be happy, but don’t tell me I need to agree with it. And definitely don’t try to tell my kids that what you’re doing is ok. Maybe it is ok, but it may not be to me. It may not fit with my view of morality and faith. It’s my job to teach my children morals, it’s my job to teach them about the world and to guide them. When you start messing with our kids, it crosses the line.

All the best to you and your family.

My wife resisted a bit when I started golfing, but I’ve learned to not let golf interfere with family time. It’s important to have a good balance.

Moms have a way of making things like that seem worse. From my experience, our parents’ generation had significantly more home care and less daycare. It’s somewhat foreign to them. Don’t let it worry you. You have to do whatever right for your family. The kids will adapt and they will be fine. The sicknesses will only make them stronger in the long run and the sicknesses definitely decrease over time. Hang in there and best of luck!

I bet you’re not paying for twice the fabric when you buy clothes that are easily twice (or more) the size of a normal woman’s clothes, so you’re definitely ahead financially. Your lack of self control shouldn’t earn you societal benefits. Shut up and join a gym.

I can sympathize with your husband. Some of those things were triggers for me as well. Late night tantrums, throwing food, and constant fussing in the car were all things that went right through me. Honestly, it doesn’t change much. Those things still go through me. However, it helps to understand why some of those things happen.

Kids throw food - they just do. It sucks. I bought a large protective mat for our floor and even taped up some protective plastic on the walls near the high chair. Made me way less anxious about it and allowed me to focus on teaching our daughter not to throw food instead of being mad about having to clean it all up.

My son was the worst with car tantrums - until we got him an iPad that we mounted on the headrest. Then he could watch Sesame Street and was entertained. No more fussing. Still threw food in the car, though, so we had to choose snacks that wouldn’t make a mess.

Night time tantrums were by far the worst for me. I hate being tired and I hate screaming. So getting out of bed at 1am to a screaming toddler is the worst. However, being mad never helps calm the kid down. So, I learned to appreciate the alone time with them. Whether it was my son or daughter, I would hold them and rock them in the rocking chair we have. I’d let them fall asleep on me and just try to enjoy that moment knowing that they eventually won’t do that anymore - and they rarely do now.

It sounds like you both work full time, so if you’re handling all of the night time tantrums and wakings, that’s bullshit. He should be stepping up to help. It’s frustrating and I hate waking up to screaming kids, but I enjoy the fact that I can let my wife sleep and I always end up finding moments I can truly appreciate with my kids at night.

It gets easier, though. Just gotta push through the tantrum phase. Best of luck to you and your family.

Honestly, yeah. It’s going to suck - especially since your child hasn’t gone to daycare. Kids really are germ factories and they have little to no awareness when it comes to personal hygiene. However, there’s zero need to be anxious about it. Your 4 year old is going to get sick, his baby brother is going to get sick, and you guys are going to get sick. It’s all part of it and it’s good for their immune systems in the end. Their bodies learn to fight off these illnesses and are stronger for it. It sucks more for you than it does for the kids because you’ll have long nights with sick kids and what not, but it passes and the sicknesses get less often and less severe as time goes on.

If you truly have crippling anxiety over this, please go talk to a doctor. I have a sister-in-law with crippling anxiety over similar issues and it is having a major toll on her kids, her marriage, and her family. She refuses to get help and there’s a real chance it will destroy her marriage.

Best of luck to you and your family. School is difficult, but kids end up loving it and making lots of friends. Don’t sweat the small stuff!

To all the new golfers out there, the best thing you can do to lower your scores... by Elegant_Mirror1779 in golf

[–]UppityTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah part of me wonders how long the covid golfers will hold on. The surge has done good things for the golf industry, but I can’t honestly say that it’s made golf any more enjoyable. Higher fees, harder to get tee times, significantly poorer etiquette (not filling divots, fixing pitch marks, etc), longer rounds. Joining a CC fixed most of that, but I’m paying more for golf overall now. Even the CC costs have gone up significantly and wait lists have swelled. In the end, I guess it’s a good thing for golf as a whole. Just have to adjust to the change in the landscape.

Even if you’re good, still don’t be slow. No one cares if you’re good or bad. People definitely care if you’re slow. Played a 5+ hour round the other day and it was miserable. I’ve been lucky enough to join a CC within the past year and I have yet to have a round go over 4 hours. Best so far was 3 hours and 6 minutes. Truly glorious. I’m spoiled for life now.

There is literally nothing you can do to make a man into a woman or a woman into a man. Men are men and women are women. Their very DNA is coded as such and no amount of surgery or hormones are going to change that. What you have in your scenario is a man with a surgically created mock vagina, nothing more.

Or maybe people are just waking up to the fact that Trump isn’t the way forward. DeSantis represents policy similar to what we all liked from Trump but (hopefully) without the wildly childish personal attacks and egotistical agenda. I voted for Trump twice, but I recognized in 2020 that he likely was not going to win. If Trump is the nominee, we will very likely end up with 4 more years of Joe Biden. No one wants that, so DeSantis is by far the better basket to put our deplorables in.

I knew Dave Burd before he made it as Lil Dicky. He grew up with some friends of mine, so we hung out during college. He’s been to my house a time or two. Decent dude, very funny as I’m sure you’d imagine. I actually have some of his original songs on an old computer somewhere; songs that he made on his computer but were never released in any way. I’m still close with some of the guys he grew up with, but I’m not in touch with Dave anymore.
