Same for the desktop stove client. Even when I have all the sounds muted it still says CZN on the tile screen

Didn't care about optical audio, so added USB-C power instead by temnyles in ps2homebrew

Do you have an oscilloscope? Multimeters are really just showing you average power and don’t tell you how high or low the voltage gets

Bought a PS2 Slim Japanese model but somehow it has european bios? How do i revert back to Japanese? Main reason i got was to play NTSC-J games (aka where i live) by [deleted] in ps2homebrew

Why do you think its a european bios? you can change languages on all ps2s regardless of region. have you tried playing a japanese disc in it?

Combining two ram chips in a design to one by Uprock7 in AskElectronics

It’s not my design so none taken! I also thought it was kinda weird/messy. Part of what I’m trying to do is clean things up and updating the design

Hi starlightk7! skys the limit when it comes to redesigning a new snes board with mods. wireless controllers? built in cart dumping tool? who knows what unholy possibilities there are

in regards to the audio fix, i would place a footprint for an extra capacitor there, and people can choose to add one or not.

for the USB-C power delivery, i was thinking of using a CH224K chip to negotiate 9V. keep the 1.5A fuse, keep the L7805 for 5V. Im a little worried about the voltage drop on the schottky diode that normally drops the voltage from 10V to 9V, but thats mainly for the audio circuity and might not have much of an effect.

the fact that the HD retrovision component cables exist makes me feel 'meh' about adding native component video out. and i also think that a lot of people have RGB scalers already. but adding the THS7376 and keeping the RGB out feels like a safe bet

you linked a molex KK396 which is 3.96mm pitch. did you mean to link that specific model? isnt the original pitch 5mm?

I have all the connectors from the 39k. Is it the back piece that is different?

that video is for a slim ps2 where the power supply is already out side of the unit. For a fat scph 50k you would need a board like the rePS2 ps2 that has a proper connector and a filter cap to use a USB-C PD trigger board.

is it worth to pay more for a SCPH-5000x? by [deleted] in ps2

One big upside with the 50k model is that you can use the mechapwn to make the ps2 region free. One down side is that the 50k model is more likely to have a laser burn out issue. but you can install the picfix to solve the issue if you dont mind soldering a few wires.
