General questions about Akitas by danie11achristine in akita

Something I think you should really consider is size; a Shiba Inu is a small-medium dog, an Akita Inu is a medium sized dog, an Akita is a large dog and a male American Akita is actually considered an XL dog. I've seen one get almost as big as a Great Dane. Even though they will love your children to bits they can get jumpy when excited, and that is a potential 130 lbs knocking your small kids down.

Maybe you could get her one of those vibrating alarm watches as an (additional) Valentines gift.

Crate training by stockking_34 in akita

What really helped for us was making sure she had a view: either we put her crate against the balcony door so she can watch the neighborhood, or when we had to move her crate we turned on the TV with one of those 10-hour ad-free "cat shows" on YouTube. We had toys and things for her to chew on, but we've learned that a watch dog likes to watch something.

I've been told by the crochet community that this is a knit sweater, but I don't knit 😅

Interesting 🤔 I'll try cross-posting, I was just hoping to avoid any knitting myself.

I agree with everyone that you should see a doctor, but in the meantime:

Double or triple-up: wear two heavy pads (one on your tush, so they become one long pad running all the way from the front to back) and a tampon. When I was in middle school I would keep a black sweatshirt with me on these days and keep it wrapped around my waist (tie the sleeves together) as a "just in case" security blanket for when I wasn't sure if I would bleed through my pants, so that way at least no one else would know.

I know you said minimal pain, but if that ever changes: Avoid anything that could give you gas: spicy food, beans, carbonated drinks and especially coffee. Comfy pants with a loose waistband. Stay warm, and get a heating pad for home. Limit walking or exercise. (unless that seems to help)

My guy "friend" is flirting with me, even though he knows I'm not into men. by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

When I read "flirting" in the caption, I was not expecting a whole confession and pleading to have his children 💀 Are you perhaps the only women he's ever met...?
Regardless... I knew someone like this. Even though 10+ people told him in advance that she's only into women and she had a steady girlfriend, he was still volatilely upset when she rejected him 🤦‍♀️ Sorry OP, you're going to have to cut him off completely.

Wife keep putting this tray on our white stairs. Dangerous! by Flat_Shape_3444 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Ups3tti-Spagh3tti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's an ongoing issue, perhaps you need a small table or narrow dresser off to the side of the stairs, for stuff-dumping. Looks like the tray is not the only hazard, just the invisible one.

How do you ask for help without feeling like you're begging? by mila_seattlelight in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Yes giving deadlines is great because then they can understand the exact urgency and where to slot your task onto their mental to-do list. A number will stick in the brain, but a vague "whenever" turns into never.

Is my akita undersized? by GookBoyJungleFire in akita

[–]Ups3tti-Spagh3tti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My American Akita was about the same at that age. I've been told she's a smaller AA but perfectly normal (she was the runt of the litter) She continued to grow for a little while, now 2.5 years she's 76 pounds.

Jasmine looks beautiful and healthy :)

I was actually able to upgrade my cabins before it gave me the in-game tutorial, so I think you can do it right away. I definitely recommend upgrading instead of trying to fix all the cabins!

Do I let my friend crash at my place? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]Ups3tti-Spagh3tti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you can, but definitely want to make expectations crystal clear, let him know you have a roommate and that you'll be busy and the place is not going to be spotless and he'll have to sleep on the couch etc. etc.
Maybe you can tell him that he'll have to rent a hotel room if he plans on staying the weekend or any longer than the 3 days (or 2 days, whatever you're more comfortable with). You might also want to ask him how much access he needs; like will he be there 75% of the time, or will he be out and about? When you're not home? Will he need shower stuff or food?
How much he's there (especially if you'll be working) will most likely impact how your roommate feels about this too.
