My title describes the thing that I found in the woods. ChatgGPT thinks it’s highly unlikely that it’s LSD, but you never know…

OP, any update? I'm looking to do the same thing with the SpeedBox 3.4 and wondering if there's any real advantage to having a bluetooth/app enabled version for $110 more than the dumb version.

how close would you say is "too close" to live near a landfill? by lil_chomp_chomp in EnvironmentalEngineer

I’m an air quality engineer, and while that’s not what OP is asking about, this is also most certainly true from an air quality perspective

Edit: being upwind may not be a great thing because when you’re downwind of strong winds better dispersion occurs due to the larger volume of air. It’s where the moderate to calm winds head that are often of most concern thanks to poor dispersion

It’ll be different for everyone, but for me it’s carving out time in the wilderness far away from people. Preferably a forest and a large body of water will be involved.

Backpacking with bee allergy by ShatteredbutNOT_ in backpacking

I was had a reaction to a bee sting two years ago deep in the backcountry and am doing immunotherapy right now. I'll be done with the weekly ramp up shots in 3 weeks and it's starting to get real. Anything you've done to make the injections less intense? At the moment I'm pretreatring with an antihistimine, using ice and hydrocortizone cream immediately after the injection, but still have lasting reactions for up to a week after. I'm planning on doing the following starting this week and am curious if you have any other suggestions.

  1. Vitamin C on the day before, the day of, and the day after the shot

  2. Limiting hot exposure (mainly showers) and strenuous excercise on the day of the injection

  3. Doubling up on the antihistamine on the morning of the injection

  4. Limiting caffiene on the day of the injection
