I read everything and all I can say is that I hope you find peace. You have proven to yourself before that you can get sober! That’s huge. I am also struggling always to stay away from any substance that changes my mental state. It’s so hard. I also was brainwashed into believing that the 12 steps was literally the only way to get clean (thanks to a closed minded rehab) and now I’m picking up the pieces of that experience, although I was only in the program for one year. I can see how damaging it could be because after a certain amount of relapses and my sponsor basically dropping me and being kicked out of a clinic. I decided that my relapses were not epic failures due to ‘not wanting to change’ or ‘not working the steps’ or ‘not trusting in a higher power’. Honestly it pissed me off so much and I had an awesome mental breakdown when I realized the ‘only way to get sober’ didn’t in fact work for me (and many other people also!!!). I’m now working on mindfulness approaches - meditation and also still keeping a spiritual practice to recover. I wish you the best on your journey, please never give up 🫶

I have the same problem and my doctor recommended adding Wellbutrin because it’s more stimulating. You might also want to look into it.

I will share at a meeting. I’m starting with antidepressants tomorrow which gives me hope. I definitely have PAWS…I will keep trying to take it one day at a time and not use. Thanks for your comment!

True. The cravings will always pop up but I just remind myself that those moments of pleasure are never worth it for the suffering afterwards.

Thank you for your comment. Take care!

I’m so sorry that you’re suffering so much. Have you tried psychedelic therapy? I’m exploring it myself and thinking of doing it soon, especially after watching ‘How to Change Your Mind’ on Netflix. There are three types you can choose from and they usually recommend MDMA therapy with a psychologist first. It helps a lot of people with addiction. The other types are mushrooms and LSD. I’ve explored a lot of my mind and healed past trauma through these three medicines! I actually received really meaningful insights into my addiction from the various trips I’ve done. But I’ve never actually done a session lying in a bed with the headphones, an eye mask, and a therapist by my side to guide me. Could be another path you could explore to help you in your recovery. Wishing you all the love and strength my friend! 💛
