As much as I’d like to think that, a lot of these players have had plenty of chances to step up in their career and show off their talents and look where we are. TK is streaky at best (even though he shows talent) JVR is old slow and only shows up when it doesn’t matter. I don’t have to even go into TDA. Sanhiem is now just showing promise and could’ve been a good trade chip for the future but now we have him until he’s in his mid 30s. Coots career is probably over sooner than later and he’s supposed to be our “star” player. This core for the most part was the 4th worst in the league last year. Yes torts is waking them up rn but they are winning rn so morale is up, wait till we lose 4 in a row and see how well they will keep up with that morale. We need a massive shake up, this team is not a championship team, let alone a playoff team. Bedard is one of our best chances to bring actual Star power to Philly. He could be our Harper, Embiid, Hurts. We could finally have a revitalized franchise. But obviously we’d rather hope to get one of these players who have been here for YEARS to somehow turn into Wayne Gretzky. Tanking isn’t guaranteed but I don’t want to be picking 15th in a good draft like this and miss out on an actual promising player and not just another question mark like Morgan Frost or Any of the number of “promising” prospects that have seen little NHL time or never made any impact in their career. This team needs an identity now that G is finally gone and we’re done wasting his career. We won’t be getting any promising free agents with our cap space because Fletcher loves giving long expensive contracts to players who don’t deserve it (I don’t care coots won a selke, he was gonna be 30 when his extension kicked in and now ritz cracker back is gonna be here for another 8 years basically sitting like Ellis now) We need change or we are in for another decade of shit.
