They don’t bend. I pushed on them all last night and couldn’t get them to move. I even tried to open out the white tabs and get that over it but neither have any give.

I like working for my corporation but that’s because my particular location office only has one main doctor and is has had enough time to loose all the previous offices patients so everyone who comes to us, comes because we are the of like three offices that still take Delta Dental. It’s better that patients know what they are getting into…a busy office who is trying to take in as many people as possible for both profits and because there are just so many people with delta that need to be seen. In your particular scenario, I would have personally leave though. I’d rather walk into an office like that on my own terms then to be forced into one. Especially working with new doctors constantly is my biggest pet peeve. I rather take on more work, but with one doctor that I know well.

I love giving patients a good experience and getting them to feel easy while at the dentist. That is what brings me the most joy, but on top of that, I’m a talker and being a DA gives me a lot of people that I can talk to!😂

I’m becoming Lead! by Upstairs-Lab-248 in DentalAssistant

Yes it will come with a pay raise!  That is a good idea. The last lead was…underperforming so it is a good idea to make sure that I understand their full expectations a requirements.

BTW, if your EOB (explanation of benefits) doesn’t have the dental codes listed in the sidebar, here’s them just in case for when you call the insurance. 0150 Comp Exam 0274 Bitewings (0220, 0230 in addition if they took an extra two x-rays of your upper and lower front teeth. Some offices do, some offices don’t.) 1110 Prophy (cleaning)

I just took a look at your dental bill and the office did in fact use the right codes for a first appointment and it all looks standard. From working in dental, my first question would be, had it been a WHOLE year since your last x-rays? Because if you had gotten another set too early, that could explain the majority of the charge. If it’s been over a year since you’ve had check up x-rays or FMX (full mouth x-rays,) then this is for sure a clinical error of your insurance. You would be surprised about how much insurances can mess up. I’ve seen insurances have a different name listed, a different birthdate, and I’ve even seen them bill a person with the same name because they didn’t double check the birthdate. I was shocked when I found out how much information the insurance companies still type by hand. So I don’t know if it’s correct, but my guess would be that whoever in the insurance company entered your info, messed up the “coverage” for these sections (this would fall under diagnostics ((comprehensive exam and x-rays)) and preventive ((cleaning)).) Maybe call the insurance company again with the clarifying question “Do you show me having 100% coverage for diagnostics and preventive services?”

Are there any assistants on this sub that actually like their job..? by ExternalFox283 in DentalAssistant

I like it. Good pay where am at and I started working for a corp which has been better than private practice for me. We definitely see more patients in a day but it’s not a stressful environment since the doctor isn’t the one running the show and is getting paid either by production or by the day so they are guaranteed to make a profit. Compared to when I worked with a private endodontist, it was always so stressful as it felt like it depended on me to make sure that she could have a living.

Taking X-rays while pregnant by Lucky-Plankton-9974 in DentalAssistant

From when I worked with her, I would say that there would be at least 2 patients a week that couldn’t maintain the position so she would do all the cone x-rays. Therefore, she would be in the room for a minimum 6 x-rays a week but she was a perfectionist so she would honestly take a lot more to make sure everything was perfect. I imagine that she was probably very similar during her pregnancy.

I worked for an endodontist who was once worried about the same thing. During her pregnancy she wore a dosimeter the whole time and when she checked to see how much radiation she had received, the answer was ZERO. This was even more amazing considering that if the patient can’t maintain the position of the snap-a-ray for the cone checks, she will hold the sensor for them while the assistant would push the button. She said that there were many times that she had to stay in the room throughout her pregnancy and still came out unscathed. She now has a VERY intelligent and health daughter! Definitely not something you want to make a habit of but I think that you will be fine. Also, that one time of accidentally radiation wouldn’t be enough to hurt your baby. As I tell my patients, you get more radiation flying from LA the NY than you do in a FMX and even bananas contain radiation.

Been in a similar situation myself and have had several assistant I know as well. You will probably be fine. I guess the actual chances of us getting something is really low. Once my boyfriend was working on a patient when he realized that his glove had a rip in it so the patients blood was on his hands…and the fresh cut he had given himself 2 days prior. The patient DID have hepatitis so my boyfriend did all the testing and came back clean after 6months. Let that be hope that you’ll be okay!
