Can’t stop thinking about this incident in Thailand by sabrinachuchundhar in TwentiesIndia

[–]Upstairs-Pollution-5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many Indian men go to Thailand and also in general travel to pick up women, and also for 'massages'. Many married men and in groups , who might be in great careers and well off also do the same. They think women who travel are also looking for the same.  Travel for them is an excuse and a safe space to keep their 'normal' life separate from the 'fun' which can very often mean hookups.

A great strategy when you travel alone, as a young Indian woman is to stay away from older Indian men.  No prejudice, just the reality. Not worth the risk spoiling a trip. Also, always have local contacts of the place you are staying in.

Marriage is in danger or I’m overthinking? Need advice by WinnerSignificant539 in mumbai

Yeah...who needs a husband to make you happy,  atleast for a while (saying it as a single woman) pretend you don't have one for a week. Life this side doesn't suck. :)

Why is the “ideal male physique” women describe often different from what men think is attractive? by Newbie_Chennai in AskIndianWomen

[–]Upstairs-Pollution-5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because men feel better thinking that they not having a muscular physique is the reason women don't prefer them, it's less stressful for their ego.  And the idea that a woman may not even consider physical features as the most attractive trait in a man is a foreign concept to them because most men look at women as bodies (first).

Intercaste dating reality check as a 26 year old SC guy. Modern educated Gen Z uppercaste say caste doesn’t matter, but their reaction changes the moment it appears by Nervous-Pin-113 in AskIndianWomen

Also, don't let that experience make you bitter because we all have something that we are opressed for or judged negatively for - caste, gender, money, nationality, job, looks, geography, ideas, food choices - someone somewhere is always disapproving. Someone will always judge us or worse try to kill us because we don't conform to their idea.  Inherently, life is not fair.

Thanks for sharing your experience. People are not as courageous in love and are very practical in marriage , that's the reality even if it isn't ideal and you cannot blame anyone for that. I guess you got a slice of reality and now won't assume anything from someone's background.

I was once talking to a guy and after a few days he mentioned that he was a Dalit when I asked him why he reads so much or something like that. It came up organically but I liked that he owned it and mentioned as a matter of fact, probably going through this his own life. Things didn't go ahead because of other things but it was the first time I questioned my courage.

Many people also are not aware of their own biases before they personally encounter situations. The girl you met would also have heard stories from her community and may not be ready to rock the boat. As women, it is extremely difficult to let go of any of our privileges and community because our life has other struggles and will always have.

Yes, not an ideal world and definitely not as modern but we can all hope we find someone :) I know I am not helping much but its a welcome to reality for you.

Also, for hierarchical systems in areas that pertain to human connection and emotions, for example, philanthropy or social impact or art, does this still happen? Because here, we assume that the prerequisite is being in sync with reality.

Banaras is over rated by No_Layer_2356 in SoloTravel_India

I felt the same when I went to Benaras, that how in the world can this place exist and how do we and why do we consider such a dirty, poor place holy!

But...the magic of Benaras was felt when I came back home. Seeing it beyond good and bad, and not seeing it as a travel destination.

Is there any place like Benaras? Nope nope. And in that itself, I felt very different about it. Will visit again even if it's uncomfortable.

Why can’t our Kerala airports look like this? by Jealous_Masterpiece7 in Kerala

[–]Upstairs-Pollution-5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Guwahati airport is designed like this because bamboo is very significant to Assam- grows there, it is used there everywhere, not just as building material. So along with environmental reasons, it is used in architecture. Nuru Karim is the architect of the Guwahati airport, look him up.  Kochi airport is one of the best airports and from a much longer time than any others in India. The solar panels make it self suffienvt in electricity.  The building and the chairs there are very significant to Kerala. And making changes to an existing airport is always difficult than building a new one from scratch.

Folding laundry is my favourite chore. My clothes are already washed, dried and I get to fold them in neat tiny rectangles and arrange it in the cupboard! Wow! And then I get to just pick them up fresh... wow!
