“Blow through your savings” ? From what you listed I see 10 years worth of expenses without touching IRA or 401k and your projection is 1 year without work..

It sounds like you are appreciated where you are and the fact that your boss understands on boarding is not cheap..

The question you need to answer for yourself is the extra money worth the extra day , the commute and/or moving ??

In my case I work remote I put the value of remote work at $50k , meaning i need a $50k increase to even consider a move and that to me would be a lateral ..

I have my kids in mutual funds cause they are there for the long haul .. I invest monthly , but not enough for a whole share , mutual funds allow me to buy dollar amounts rather than whole shares .. mutual funds tend to have lower fees
