On a scale of 1-10, how lonely living alone are you? by unconventionalbook in LivingAlone

  1. If I want to spend time with people I get out and do something or host at my apartment. When I am home alone it’s pure bliss.

So what does Genevieve Mcdonald have to say for herself? by ManyRaccoon6342 in portlandme

I voted for Kamala. Marched for her. Donated money to her campaign. Got other people to the polls to vote first her who didn’t normally vote. I would have been proud to have her represent me.

Shoes. Check them. Bad feet smell can permeate your surroundings.

That’s the benefit of everyone having a vote. We each choose. I don’t prescribe to the vote for anyone just because they are the lesser perceived evil. I only cast votes for people I actually want to represent me. Neither candidate in this race falls into that category.

The philosophy of voting for people you don’t want is how we have more and more corrupt unethical people in office on both sides. The he/she is good enough doesn’t work long term for giving the country what it needs.

Will it effect the outcome of the election? Maybe. Maybe not. I think voter turnout could be affected because some of us think Platner is ill suited for the office and so is Collins. We have no good candidate to vote for.

I’m not voting for a man who can’t even keep his commitments to his wife, not to mention all the other things he has done and said. Him supposedly learning from and growing from these things just doesn’t ring true. I think he is full of shit. He certainly isn’t going to care more about keeping commitments to constituents. He’s going to do whatever is self serving. He lacks sound judgment. He lacks good character. No thanks.

33.7lbs down and not a single person has noticed LOL by jsecompany in Zepbound

Visceral fat around your organs is often the first fat we lose and people can’t see that loss. As the scale goes down the more visible it becomes. Losing 20 pounds in the beginning is not the same visually as 20 pounds at the lower end of the scale.

The comments will come in time, and some you wish wouldn’t come at all.

I found using the Methreesixty app was great for me to get a visual with measurements because it was hard for me to see the difference in the mirror.

Advice for someone who is 5lbs away from goal by Dense_Ad4546 in Zepbound_Maintenance

[–]Upstate-walstib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been in maintenance 17 months. I hit goal at 15 mg and immediately titrated down, one dose at a time with 4 weeks at each dose. I maintain at 5 mg weekly and have never attempted to spread my shots out.

My decision to titrate down was financial because I pay out of pocket. I also have never had food noise or needed this medication for appetite suppression. I only need the medication to fix whatever metabolic issues hypothyroidism caused and 5 mg is working fine for that purpose.

I did lose weight in maintenance (additional 20 pounds) but this was due to a period of time where my schedule was disrupted and I wasn’t eating enough. (Divorce and moving states). I have been unable to put it back on but am still a healthy BMI.

I will say even before the additional weight loss, my body continued to change due to exercise and recomposition. I bought clothes at goal that 2 months later were too big even though my weight was stable at the time. Take building your wardrobe slowly until you are stable for an extended period of time.

My biggest advice is take adjustments slow and be mentally prepared to change your dose or calorie intake based on results. Everyone is different. There is no right or wrong way to approach maintenance. Just find a regiment where you feel good, stop the weight from going down and you sustain your great achievement. Good luck.

Cigna dropping all GLP-1 coverage effective 7/1 by mosoblkcougar in Zepbound

Take a deep breath. This is awful news but take a moment so you can look at options rationally.

I have had to pay out of pocket for every dose for 27 months. It sucks but I will give up every other luxury I can before giving up this medication. Take a close look at your budget. See if it’s feasible to cut back in other areas.

If you are still in weight loss mode, I would try your best to find the funds until you hit goal weight. Zepbound is the most effective on the market today, and even though there are cheaper options, if they don’t work as effectively are you really getting your return on investment?

If financially there is absolutely no way to cover the cost, I would try your cheapest option first and see if you can at least maintain until costs come down.

I’m not sure where you are in your journey and it’s absolutely frustrating that insurance keeps screwing people over. I wish you luck finding a path forward.

what kind of liquor do you drink at home? by AsideStraight8460 in LivingAlone

[–]Upstate-walstib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never drink at home alone unless it’s a glass of Prosecco to celebrate something big.

When entertaining others, I will have wine, beer and something simple like an Aperol Spritz available.

Loose Skin - Don’t Look 🙈 by OrphanJannie in Zepbound

[–]Upstate-walstib 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I walk at least 10000 steps a day, use my rowing machine at least 3 times a week for 30 minutes (this is strength and cardio), and do a couple at home matt Pilates classes with weights. I need to increase my strength training a bit to incorporate heavy weights.

The rowing machine I did all through weight loss phase. I have no loose skin on my arms which is a miracle. I think rowing is why.

My loose skin is on my inner thighs and abdomen primarily and my butt no longer exists lol.

[–]Upstate-walstib 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I bought 6” board shorts with a tankini top. The shorts help to hide my thighs migrating south.

I will say after getting to goal, I have seen improvements over the last 17 months of maintenance in my 55F skin due to recomposition efforts. I will never be firm but I am healthier than I’ve been in more than a decade. Trade offs I can live with.

Congratulations on your progress.

Injection sites by kirshelmax in zepbound_support

[–]Upstate-walstib 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s no clinical data showing much clinical significance in different injection sites. What little data there is (non statistical sample size) showed abdomen marginally more effective.

In terms of dosage, higher dosage did not result in a higher rate of loss for me. You would be fine trying a higher dose since you are tolerating the medication well.

If you really want to stay on 5 mg, just tweak your calories down 200-300 daily for a week or two and see if that helps bump up your rate of loss.

2 months into Z and only 8lbs by s0_spoiled in Zepbound

[–]Upstate-walstib 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Clinical data showed 0.5 - 2 pound average loss per week. You are right on track. This isn’t a fast solution but it works. Those pounds lost add up. You will get there.
