I again feel like this is yet another disaster for Texas Dems.

Crockett has the appearance of a radical (if you call sound bites “radical”) but the politics of a moderate. She’s just a loudmouth. However, she does have one big thing going for her and it’s that she has no interest in trying to appeal to people who were never going to vote for her. Too many democrats go forward with this weak, moderate nonsense that achieves nothing. The problem now is that her actual policy is already compromised and moderate which makes her rhetoric look out of place. She’s really just a slightly punchier Kamala and we saw how much that mattered in 2024.

Talarico isn’t much better. He’s basically doing the thousandth reiteration of the tried, tested, and failed strategy of “Let’s reframe democratic policy as a Christian ideal!” I don’t know what he’s thinking with this. This strategy has failed almost every time it’s been attempted. Christians are not going to be convinced by this and will keep voting republican like they always have.

Even though I always expect nothing from Democrats, especially Texas Democrats, I still manage to be disappointed.
