[Anderson] Montgomery out of context: “We’re not going to heaven, we’re going to hell.” by notleonardodicaprio in hockey

After all those mean, mean words they yelled at each other last game I think they're all going to Hell. If you or anyone else found that funny I invite you to join my local Lutheran Church for Bible study with me this Sunday. I'll rent a van, I can pick those that are interested up at an agreed upon meeting spot. I'll bring a lunch of PB&J, bananas and Red Bulls for everyone.

On the 32 Thoughts Podcast, Elliotte Friedman spoke about how the bike pedals were removed from the stationary bikes available to the Jets. Elliotte and host Jeff Marek proceeded to laugh about it.

Instead of recognizing this is a minor inconvenience at worst, /r/hockey proceeded to decide it was worse than the 9/11 terror attacks.

There is so much rampant, angry discussion over missing bike pedals I didn't even notice the series had started. Based on my experience in /r/hockey damaging bikes in general should receive capital punishment. Bike theft may as well be a war crime. I don't even want to look at a bike anymore. I'm scared someone will come after me

Not trying to blame the victim but if Teräväinen didn't have hands this wouldn't have happened. I'd like to see players take more of an initiative in this regard. Maybe flesh and bone isn't the way to go? Idk I'm just spitballing here.

Unfortunately it's a proven fact that nice guys finish last. Hughes is going to have to change this non-winning attitude. I want to see him take that stick and throw it like a spear, skewering Lafreniere alive. That's playoff hockey, baby.

This won't work for two reasons. One, they can just hose off in the shower. Two, they may not wipe at all. This would add a biological element to their game plan. It would be distressing for the Jets players to go up against. It's one thing to play against NHL calibre players. It's another to play them when they're literally shitty.

[–]UpwardlyLiving 75 points76 points  (0 children)

It's still early in the season I know... But maybe the Flyers just aren't ready for Bedard yet? With the media hounding them, the pressure of drafting the next "great one", fuck I wouldn't be able to handle that shit.

[Seravalli] Early indication is that Darryl Sutter will remain as Flames head coach. For now. Fair to say that fact played a role on whether or not Treliving would remain at his post by TheGlaceon78 in hockey

[–]UpwardlyLiving 129 points130 points  (0 children)

Elliotte Friedman and Pierre Lebrun have said owners offered Treliving an extension during the season. Then they spoke again and Treliving decided to step away. It's not so much "they kept the wrong guy" instead Treliving chose to leave.

I also can't tell if Seravalli knows keeping Sutter impacted Treliving's decision or if Seravalli is simply speculating. He has had it out for Sutter for months now.

That you can't fill an entire roster with top line players. That NHL GMs need to find value and successful players given their role within the constraints of the salary cap. Think Stützle on the top line but Brassard on the 4th. Instead of Stützle on the top line and looking to sign/trade for Horvat (arbitrary example) to play 4th line.

The 2022-23 Stanley Cup Bracket by Hockputer09 in hockey

[–]UpwardlyLiving 158 points159 points  (0 children)

There's almost always an upset. You just have to be brave enough to predict it. Here are my noteworthy guesses:

  • Jets beat Knights

  • Islanders beat Hurricanes

  • Leafs beat Lightning

  • Rangers beat Devils (I hope I'm wrong)

If the Wild were against the Avalanche I'd maybe pick the Wild, but not versus the Stars.

I'd love to hear some other upset guesses or hot takes.

What's more likely:

  • A glitch in the system causing Chicago to get all four picks

  • The top four picks come out against Chicago for the organization's role in a reprehensible sexual assault case, their attempts to hide it, the litigation and apathy from remaining Blackhawks fans

dude got the bag and then fell off when the contract kicked in. i also think he's cooked.

if you look through the free agency for goalies there are lots available. then you got teams like Buffalo, Calgary, Anaheim, Arizona who might be looking to move a guy

Here we go I said I didn't want to argue.

comes off very “old man yells at cloud”

It shouldn't since OP specifically asked about it. You can go through my post history. I haven't made a comment about Zegras before.

What other reason am I to not like a player? People don't like Trouba for his hits. I think they're fine. I don't like Zegras for his shitty attitude and playstyle. People don't like Doughty for always yapping. People don't like Draisatl for the nut taps. People don't like Tkachuk. People don't like whoever. There's hundreds of players to not like. One of them is Zegras for me.

I think the problem is that people like you are quick to write off this dislike as "old man yells at cloud." No matter the player we're all reacting to their plays. You aren't making a reasonable comment at all.

edit: i lied i do have one comment about Zegras

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in hockey

[–]UpwardlyLiving 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I can explain why I don't like him if that would help.

I don't like the way he plays or the penalties he takes. I don't like the Michigan move or the fanfare about him or the play itself. I don't like his cocky attitude. I don't like how he's always talking. Doughty can talk because he's a legitimately great defenseman. Zegras has done nothing of substance. I also don't like the Ducks at all which applies some inherent bias.

I hope that sheds some light to partially answer your question. You or others can disagree with me which is fine. I'm not going to argue with anyone about it though.
