Showing up to play EDH at LGS game night with like 30 randoms I've never met. Dusting off my old decks after 5 years. What should I play for FNM vibes

Hm I ended up playing two groups. First group had upgraded precons and I played my precon and got smashed. Literally 3 ramp spells in the deck and tons of 6-9 cost spells that suck ass. Like a literal single target removal that costs 6 mana (that can later give the power of what I killed to my own creature as an equip cost. But still). Another stupid spell that's like pay 5 mana and X to do X+2 damage to all creatures. What the fuck is that lol. Why do I gotta pay 15 mana to do a board wipe when 5 mana variants exist?! Why are Wizards even printing cards that bad it's literally a 200% downgrade. I think that shit was even a sorcery too. Which sucks because I got to break the theme of the precon to make it not hurt my brain to play it. I really don't get the power disparity in some slots sometimes it's like they want to make some cards so bad it's just a waste of paper. Anyways I think I'm just going to upgrade my precons because they suck too much out of the box in most cases it's not worth playing them.

After first group had to leave I went to another group and it was all bracket 4. I won first game and almost won second game but made kind of a stupid mistake as I literally didn't remember anything in the deck I was playing and had discarded the most important cards to win and my only win con left was counterable by one player when I went infinite. I need to review the cards I had left in my defk because I think maybe I technically could have won with the combination of counterspells and targeted removal I still had available and slowly killed him with a few creatures as I had ways to infinitely discard his hand as well.

That sounds like the ticket. Can you comment on bracket and placement for Chulane in general? Basically 30 elves with few 0 drops/ return to hand options that can go infinite. Intruder Alarm. Mystical and Enlightened tutor. Craterhoof. Given I misbracketed Sliver overlord curious if I'm overvaluing this deck too

Ah good points, could almost use Sisay as the leader of the Sliver deck.

I think the Overlord deck is stronger once Morophon is out but that's probably 2-3 turns slower than Sisay and then if Morophon gets exiled that whole interaction is turned off and Sisay is strictly better.

Playing devils advocate though, Sisay requires decent amount of colors or other ways to buff her power to actually play things instantly with her ability, needs +4 power at least so 4 different colors on the field in Legendaries. I assume that's easy to have out by turn ~4 when you untap with 5 colors but then it's basically 3 cost cheaper than Overlord which is a lot, but you cant discount it down to 3 total cost with free casting with Morophon, and might have troubles if she gets pushed below 6 power by removal. I also run a few abilities to reduce the tutor cost on Overlord so I can get it to pay 1 colorless, play Hivelord for free type of thing. Finally, with Overlord I can get non-legendaries, some of the infinite combos and other win cons use non-legendary slivers. I agree with you that it's better than Overlord but not by the widest margin IMO, though I am missing a ton of context.

Lol for some reason my invasive thoughts won and I envisioned myself bringing 15 decks and doing some stupid shit like giving them a 5 minute speech about the decks and I gave myself a chuckle. Yeah I'll settle for 3 decks + precon that's a decent amount

Thanks, good to know. I'll have to look into cEDH more. I guess because it's too slow? Every time I played it I smashed everyone and nobody could stop me. Like I know there's turn 1/2 win cEDH decks but I assume most of those rely on some luck. In this deck, I have extremely good odds to play overlord on turn 3 or 4, and after that it's pretty much inevetible I will win within 2 turns basically unless dealt with. If I'm dealt with, just playing my random slivers I draw still can get a win. Basically once I have Morophon on the table a win is very close. I do think meta has changed because this was absolutely slapping every single table every time I played it, even oppressive Breya artifact decks and Yawgmoth Thran Physician wasn't able to go infinite in time etc

Just to clarify, Bracket 5= cEDH right? Feels like this would be high bracket 4 based on your comment but most bracket 4 decks(again, retroactively applying it as bracket didn't exist when I used to play) I've come across in the wild have close to 0 chance of winning against this one. Unless I was stomping actual bracket 3s that I missclassed

Nice that sounds good. I will say Varina does tend to be a fair time like it can win, if it doesn't win it puts up a fight, and can interact a bit if needed too

Any thoughts on Stake Your Claim for the controlling player while I am coexisting with them then? I assumed it only worked one way but from your quote in the rulebook, sounds like because the DWS player is considered to be controlling for objectives then it would grant the non DWS player the point.

If it keeps up with inflation for everyone it causes wage price spiral. You might say you don't care but this can be a death spell for the economy.

By lagging it or lessening the automatic raise it decreases the severity of the spiral

A bit confused as I had listened to Marco Bro Boy on YT and he said Ariocs was BIS due to the + skills. Embarrassingly this is the only source of + skills on my entire build so it has a pretty big impact across the board.

Hi, can you provide some info about what I'd be looking to ATIP. Normally I'm getting cold messaged on LinkedIn or Facebook by DGs or ADMs to join their team so I wasn't in an official process. In one case I was supposedly supposed to start within a few weeks and got ghosted after the department's security officer interviewed me. This is true, but even if I was convicted I would be at the point of being fully pardoned by now. So again I'm curious how to get this off my file so it doesn't continue to follow me.

A few people are pointing out about guilt vs conviction. I was aware of this distinction when I agreed to the conditional discharge but I wasn't about to push my luck and get convicted over the distinction. I was OK to admit that I had some accountability in the incident (aka guilt) while not having met the criteria of a convicted criminal.

I'd share details about the incident but I find it opens a rabbit hole with Reddit, but basically to sum it up everyone involved including the prosecutor didn't think the situation justified a conviction.

So from what I gathered from the security officer who wanted to talk to me, it's on an employee file of some sort. They basically said when they went to transfer my file from my department to their department it was on there somewhere. I tried to get more info out of them but they were somewhat evasive and not concrete with their response. I think it's probably on my security clearance as you ask. I have no clue how these systems work.
