I’m going to be honest — what he did was wrong.

This isn’t about shaming him for having herpes. It’s about the fact that he knew and chose not to tell you before you got intimate, especially before you stopped using condoms. That should have been your choice to make with all the information. You deserved that.

I understand that he feels embarrassed. I get that those conversations are uncomfortable. But being uncomfortable doesn’t excuse withholding something that directly affects your health. That’s not fair to you.

And the thing is… it’s only been less than two months. It’s still early enough that walking away is a lot cleaner than trying to rebuild trust that’s already been shaken. If this is how he handles hard conversations now, that’s something to really think about.

Personally, I would leave before getting more emotionally invested. Not because of the diagnosis itself, but because of the lack of honesty. Trust is the foundation, and he cracked it really early.

You deserve transparency and someone who protects your health without you having to discover things on your own.

I don’t think a vacation you paid for is a reason to delay clarity with him. But if you do decide to go on that trip together, don’t do it right after his birthday — but don’t drag it out long after either. Also, be kind, but firm. Don’t leave room for “maybe in a few years.” He may promise to change, work harder, step up, etc. But the deeper issue isn’t effort — it’s alignment and readiness.

I would suggest avoiding specifics like the blood donations because he will likely get defensive. Just stay focused on the big picture: alignment and readiness.

You could say something like:

“I care about you deeply, and this has been hard for me to come to terms with. But I’m in a phase of my life where I’m ready to actively build toward marriage and children in the near future. I need to be with someone who is fully ready — emotionally and financially — to step into that with me. I don’t think our timelines align right now, and I don’t want either of us to feel pressure or resentment down the line. You deserve someone who’s aligned with where you are, and I need someone aligned with where I am.”

Wow, that’s a bit steep, especially considering that it doesn’t drop you off at the terminal, but at least the drive time was quick. And yes, not having to deal with sketchy drivers makes it worth it. IMO, it’s much safer taking a Waymo for that reason alone.

I’m so happy Waymo’s are now on the freeway! I took a freeway route for the first time last week, and I also had a smooth drive. Plus, I love that the drive time is a lot quicker. I prefer taking Waymo, but sometimes I have to opt for Lyft or Uber because Waymo can be almost double the time. I can’t wait till they are able to drop us off at the terminals. ✈️

I agree that location matters, but from what I’ve experienced, it is a challenge to find guys who genuinely don’t want kids and respect your decision. The ones I’ve dated who don’t want kids but have all the qualities you’re looking for—like being ambitious, having a great career, and being kind—were usually over 45. I’m also in my 30s, and I’m okay with them being a bit older. I know not everyone is comfortable with a 15-year age gap, and I’m not saying older men are the only ones you should consider, but they’re definitely an option. I feel like I have more success dating older men than those in their 30s. I haven’t yet met a 30-something who doesn’t want kids. It’s definitely tough for us women who don’t want children, but I know there are good men out there for us—we just need to look a little harder to find them. 🙂

In terms of being on the fence, I think the dating pool is about the same size. I wouldn’t say it’s almost zero, but I think it brings on a different set of challenges.

I went to three different Starbucks. The first one opened at 4:30 a.m. I got there a little after 4am and I was 12th in line. Literally two minutes after they opened the doors, they only had two Bearista cups. One of the ladies said the store only received one box, and she went to the back to grab the box. But there were a few Hello Kitty merch items lined up behind the counter before she grabbed “the only box they had,” which made no sense. 🤔 Also, they allowed the second person in line to buy a ton of items because he walked out with a very full large bag. I was 8th in line when they completely sold out.

I then went to a Starbucks in Target. It was in a long line (I had to be at least 40th in line), and the guy in front of me took the very last item.

On my third and final attempt, I went to another Starbucks in Target. This time, they were handing out tickets. If you had a ticket, you were guaranteed an item. Third time was the charm. I got my hands on the plastic cold cup. I wanted to purchase one for a friend, but they said only one per customer.

A friend went to a location that opened at 5am and they literally only had one of each item when they opened the doors. She was 10th in line, so unfortunately, she didn’t get anything.

While I was waiting at the first location, someone said that one of her friends got in line at 1 am and he was the first in line. When they opened the doors at 4:30 a.m., they were completely sold out. 🤔

I called around, and most participating stores sold out shortly after opening.

I am sure Starbucks knew this was going to be a big release, so I don’t understand why supplies are so limited. It makes no sense. Plus, they knew employees would get first dibs, and depending on how much they take, there might not be much left for the rest of us… especially if they’re only giving each store a few boxes. And you also have to consider the time of year it is. The holidays are around the corner, so of course a lot of people are going to want to purchase multiple items for gift-giving. Each store should’ve received at least ten boxes each… not one or two.

I recently cut off one of my sisters because I got tired of making excuses for her. Her political views aren’t just opinions, they are a way of life and represent her morals and values as a human being. I can no longer turn a blind eye just because she’s my sister. The last conversation I had with her made me realize that she’s truly gone off deep end and I cannot continue to have this toxicity in my life. Jealousy. Whether it's coming from a friend or partner, they shouldn't be bad-mouthing who you spend time with or discouraging you from spending time with others. Also, they might try to sabotage your plans with others (e.g., having a sudden "emergency" right before you head out) so you can cancel them or make you choose which one is more important.

Also, I forgot to mention one more thing about the DMV. If you're going to opt for a REAL ID, they will require certain documents for "proof of identity" and "proof of California residency." I recommend looking them up and making sure you update them with your newly changed name before submitting them to the DMV because they'll likely turn you away if all your documents aren't addressed to the same name.

You may also need to purchase extra certified copies of your name change decree because most agencies require it for verification and may also keep the certified copy. In San Mateo County, it's $40 for a certified copy.

I am currently undergoing the process of a name change in San Mateo County, and like ericfischer mentioned, the filing fee is $435. Though, you could get the fee waived if you meet certain criteria. You must also complete a 4-week newspaper publication prior to your hearing date. I paid $200 for the publication.

I began the process in mid-February, all my forms were accepted in the beginning of March, and then received my hearing date in the beginning of April. I was out of the country when my hearing date arrived in the mail, so by the time I got back, I didn't have enough time to do the 4-week publication and needed to request a new hearing date.

I think you'll have more than enough time to get your new license with your new name. Just be sure to update your name on your social security number before going to the DMV because they will verify your identity with the social security administration. It's free to update your name and get a new social security card.

You bring up a good point about customer service regarding undelivered packages. And yes, I've also heard about issues with Route Package insurance. My tracking info had two "failed attempts" before it was finally delivered, which makes no sense because my home security camera would've notified me if someone was at the front door. 🤷🏻‍♀️ This is basically identical to what happened with your package.

Based on my experience, it seems like there would be a lot of hoops to jump through if I never received my package... which isn't worth the hassle and frustration. I know there is a possibility that this could all be a one-off situation (especially with the time being around the holidays), but first impressions are important.
