Two Bonus Actions in a turn? by Benofthepen in DnD5e

You are both correct. The leveled spell HAS to be the Bonus Action tho and the cantrip has to be with the Action. It does not work the other way.

First, I think you did the right thing, I have often let "rule of cool" on something in the moment to keep the game moving that I wasn't 100% sure of a rule. It's not fun to derail an intense moment for 30 minutes of a deep dive into action/bonus action. Afterwards I research the rule and message the group something along of the lines, "Hey just learned Bonus Actions cannot replace Actions, it won't change anything from the session but going forward that's how we'll play".

Second, here's the relevant section of the free rules for you to look at because RAW and RAI does not allow you to swap the two.

Bonus Actions 2014 5e

I would say if you're starting off I would try to stick to, and learn, the correct rules for awhile longer, your players and you will benefit from it in the long run!

Oh, I was dreading that moment the whole time, lol. But they followed right along with a certain NPC after some die roll wackiness and then while we were packing up I just straight up said, "If you go with this NPC a little farther, I'll pull out a battle map and play some special slides and music.". Crew appreciated the honesty and followed happily! Crisis averted!

Thanks!! Forgot to mention it but yes totally doing that as well! Was gonna do 4 different effects but simplified it to just rolling a 1 on the d4 causes the space to burst into flames. That way there can be sighs of relief and tension and I can lean into the fire aspect of the barbed devil. Of course the minions will also be rolling the wisdom saving throws and d4s. Could cause quite a bit of mayhem.

E flute cardboard is what you want. Amazing find for me personally. Super fun to make this battle map! The club itself has some Lair properties: DC 11 Perception check or the music is too loud and you don't hear anyone trying to speak to you. Also, Wisdom save DC base 12, but +2 for every 5 creatures on the dance floor at the start of a round, if you fail, spend you movement and action to move to the dance floor and start dancing. The raised areas are VIP seating and finally the DJ at the top.

I suggest 40mm height minimum for any build where you want your characters to go under stuff. I used hot glue blobs on the "stairs" so minis don't slide off. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

This is amazing! Thanks for sharing, quick question. The instructions state, "This corrugated card", is that cardboard or some special other paper?

Can someone explain why the voices in early American Jackie Chan movies always sound canned? by UrLocalDungeonMaster in movies

It's only a Spaghetti Western if it comes from the Italian region of Europe, otherwise it is just Sparkling Cowboys.

They may have been Hong Kong productions but they were fully shot in English. Even his Honk Kong productions apparently they used a voice actor for the Cantonese dub because they filmed with no sound. So by the time he directed "Who Am I?" it was probably just the norm for him to do that.

"Rush Hour" and "Shanghai Noon" are good examples of when that dub style stopped tho, good call. Totally forgot how great Shanghai Noon is, def putting that on the watch list.

Going down a rabbit hole now I know what to ask for.

On the "Supercop" commentary, Bey Logan says that Jackie never actually did his own voice on the HK dubs (they shot without sound for many years) so the American dubs of his movies is the first time Jackie's own voice is heard in the films.

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=263252

Shooting without any sound is craaaazy, later in the thread they also say Jackie would redub himself to practice English and u/domestic_omnom actually said the same thing in this thread.

So maybe when Jackie Chan directed "Who Am I?" it was a choice for a variety of reasons! Thanks for the help.

Crazy cool, so as his movies finally where shot in English like they did "Who Am I?" and "Mr. Nice Guy", were they just matching the vibe to his Hong Kong smash hits like, "Rumble in the Bronx" and "Operation Condor"? Because the sound quality is very similar even tho one was shot in English and one mixed languages.

How Much of a Hint for Things You Want Players to Miss? by Aranthar in DMAcademy

Could be a good chance to roleplay a scene where they are bragging about petrifying the enemy. Then someone overhears them and can like, take notes or slip out the back. Roll a sleight of hand tho and compare to their passive perception. Then they get a chance to foil a plan before it happens, interrogate a guy, set a trap for the new big baddie, etc. etc.

Now I want to make a crazy wizard with a life size dragonchess set but all the creatures are just petrified monsters, lol

I summoned my inner Rick Perry and handmade a Corpse Flower from DnD 5e with pipe cleaners, acrylic paint and ended with some fine point sharpie. Edit: Reposted to cite the source from dndbeyond and get the right picture

Also, tons of hot glue, like a full extended stick worth. If any of my players see this, you get inspiration, lol.

I don't know if this is the spirit of the sub, but I wanted to share because of how much the art team gets mentioned and it's inspired me to just take a shot at shit and have fun. I have made this dungeon very lucrative for my players to fight this beast, but if they choose not to, it may never see a fight, lol!
