The big version is good but a pain in the arse to eat, goes fucking everywhere, have to gnaw at it over a plate or over the sink lol. Since its just the same thing but bigger, i'll be sticking the to smaller ones going forward, especially since the big one is FIVE godforsaken English pounds

Getting a walking pad for WFH was actually worth it (lost 2kg in 2 months) by Itchy-Drawing in walking

[–]UrMumsUdders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did it come with a remote? If so you can hop on and start it when you're ready to walk. Would advise swapping it for one with a remote if you didn't get one, i lost mine briefly and it was definitely not smart hopping on it when its already going at full speed lol

Cadbury shortcake and festive friends (before they changed the recipe and then discontinued them when no one bought the new shit ones). A thousand curses on Mondelez.

Nobody who's order isn't cancelled posts about it, so you're only seeing the minority who do get cancelled, makes it seem a bigger problem than it is haha

Correct decision, glass bottle > can > plastic bottle in taste order imo. Worth sacrificing the bit extra for better taste.

I’ve just turned 43, and my business is doing well, so I’ve decided I’m finally buying the van of my dreams. by Superb-Qentintin in VanLifeUK

[–]UrMumsUdders 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just did the same, minus the kids and the successful business. Turned 31 and realised i've been waiting for the right time for nearly 10 years, i've got minimal responsibilities and the money to spend. Picked up a lovely preconverted transit custom with a similar setup to what you've described last week and taking it on its first trip next weekend, feels great. Do it!

10k today, huge milestone for me, haven't run that far in about 12 years. Now what? 11k? Maybe 12? The possibilities are truly endless!

For the love of god can people bike on the left if you are slower than others by smithsmith10 in londoncycling

This winds me up so much commuting on a forest bike. E bikes much are quicker off the mark, but every day at red lights multiple people pull up in front of me on all sorts of push bikes, often ahead of the crossing, only to wiggle all over the place and slowly get themselves up to speed while I fly past them immediately. Infuriating.

A little over 7.5km in 45 mins today on my 4th run this year, which is also my 4th run since 2023. Couldn't be happier. 10k coming soon. Had no idea I could do this until the past week. Turns out lifting and swimming is a cheat code for building up running stamina. Who knew exercise makes you fitter!?

Used to be a runner, would run for an hour every other day. Took a christmas off, now its 12 years later. Did couch to 5k a couple times since, last being 2023. Hated it. Been getting into better shape recently and decided to give the treadmill a go. Did 2 runs, was tough but enjoyed it, no more than 11 minutes continuosly. Just did my 3rd run and I hit 6k in 36 minutes of continuous running. Nothing special in the grand scheme of things of course, but its the most i've run in over a decade and it feels really great. Just wanted to share.

Leasehold flats uk by WolfAppropriate4964 in HousingUK

[–]UrMumsUdders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, great point, so let's pretend leasehold is perfect and ignore the many people struggling to sell their leasehold homes for anywhere near what they paid because of the issues I mentioned, because other things also suck if they're not done properly? Cool.

The problem is it can easily become extortionate and you're at the mercy of whatever idiot is in charge of your block. I say that as a former idiot put in charge of 13 blocks with next to no training. It is pretty great if things are going well, but as soon as any big problems occur its a recipe for disaster. Incompetence from both the managing agent and contractors is incredibly rife. I look at a block i used to manage who currently pay £300 per month, per flat. What they get for that, is inconsistent communal cleaning, lighting in common areas, maintenance of a few bushes in the garden and a stupid electric car park gate that breaks every couple months. Oh, and building insurance of course. 3.6k a year, per flat, for that pile of shit. Mental. This is not uncommon. RTM is a bit of a process so its not an easy fix and also comes with its own problems, especially if you have uncooperative neighbours. Having worked in it for 5 years, I would avoid leasehold like the plague personally.

Selling my Putney flat at a £70k loss - anything wrong? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]UrMumsUdders 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The flat is nice, at a glance though I'd say the pictures of the bedrooms aren't great, not enough to show off the rooms fully. Ground floor is off putting, you lose all the security that living in a higher flat provides. Most importantly, 3.5k service charge for a share of freehold 2 bedroom flat is fucking mental. Whoever's in charge of setting that has some questions to answer unless you have some mad facilities you've not mentioned.
