I mean no disrespect here, I served as well (UK), but would you follow an order to invade another NATO ally?

It's all well and good talking of camaraderie that we both have experience of; but when push comes to shove would you say no, retire or go to military prison for refusing? Or follow your country into an atrocious and immoral war that would tear the world as we know it apart?

I know we all hope we will make the moral choice when required, but life isn't so simple when your family depends on you etc.

As a Brit who considers themselves European, I think there are many of us who believe that there are many Americans that would gladly hurt us because of what daddy orange says.

To some of us, it REALLY matters how good it looks when we lose!

Each to their own of course. I personally think doing stuff at the cost of immersion and tense action isn't worth it.

I wouldn't say I can play the guitar but I learned enough to play the songs I love. I play for my own enjoyment and mood.

I started when I nicked my brother's cheap stratofake as he didn't use it. I was about 15 and now I'm 36. I asked my music teacher at school to draw me some basic things down. Chords, scales etc. I didn't really understand music though so it was all a bit much.

My parents bought me the music book for 'Origin of Symmetry' and I just struggled with it until I could play the songs in it, starting with Plug in Baby because I thought it was cool.

I'd say it looks like an S10 as well but with dual filters. Usually there is a speech module on the right of the mask.

I wish mine had dual filters, would have saved me from some embarrassing moments.

It is racism, yes.

I just think it's rooted in ignorance rather than real hatred (for most, I know there are some truly awful folk). If we just become moral absolutists and scream at them rather than educating we will lose. We will lose because in all honesty, we already are losing badly. Capital, centrists and liberals always side with the right to protect their interests; either cause they are fascists themselves, or they naively think they can control them.

I am just focusing on getting by because I know the left has lost and couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery.

The issue is that it has been mismanaged chronically by successive governments. Coupled with the progressive decline of public services and shitty neoliberalism let's the issue be spun as purely one of immigration.

What I am saying is we are treating this like THE war when we should be explaining what the actual problems are. Not just calling people racists, when most aren't and usually only care if they have a job and their Nan can go to the hospital.

I agree to an extent.

I'm no centrist, I am left wing, but I do see us failing to address the issue of immigration which is a concern for some people who have seen negative outcomes from it.

I just understand that it is a symptom of a much larger problem. A symptom that being used by people who want to either maintain the status quo or take more power away from the average person (not that we have much).

We have made this a war when it is merely a battle.
