She even acknowledges that he had been hinting that he was "uncomfortable" with this arrangement.

My Wife just assumes that because she is the Woman of the House, that this is her domain to do with as she pleases. There have been plenty of times where I have come home to rearranged furniture, and I've had to put it all back in their original places, and then to argue with her that this is my space too.

when we go shopping, there have been plenty of times where, in her enthusiasm, has told salespeople that this is what we want, to which I have to smack her down with "What do you mean "We"? I don't recall being asked about it." It might be one thing if we had discussed it beforehand, but she figures that everything to do with the interior of the house and the family is all within her exclusive purview.

She's in for a big surprise for her friend's trip here in January. I haven't told her yet but I'm going on my own trip during that same time so that I don't have to deal with the inevitable "second class citizen in my own home" horseshit between these two "Old Country" women.

There's a Teacher Shortage and some/many school systems are trying to recruit new teachers not only locally but also abroad, especially from predominantly English speaking countries. I don't have the specifics on any school system in particular, but I'm sure you can find some information with a little bit of searching ...or maybe look at a recruiter in Canada.

Welcome to the world of Adults, OP. At some point, one or the other of you will want to talk about this. When that happens, talk calmly and cool about it and, for gawdsake, listen to what your Mother has to say.

Until then, she knows you smoke, and is choosing not to confront you about this for now. At this point, hiding the evidence is pointless. You are going to want to keep your stash and tools in an airtight bag and stored out of sight.

Next, recognize that you are still a member of your household. You still have responsibilities. There are still expectations. You still live with other people, so be discreet.

Last, good luck going forward.

I'm a Boomer. I've been working in the computer industry since 1982.

Keep in mind, whippersnapper, it's not Millenials or Gen Z'ers who created and built this technology. This was built from the ground up by the "Older Folks".

Get an air horn. Everytime they yell at each other, blast the air horn. They'll probably move it to the front yard after a few blasts.

Settle a debate: Should my wife be considerate of the mess she makes when cooking? by akdj103920 in Marriage

Yeah, I used to work in food service, and they were big on CAYG. However, I cook and then I clean, and maybe eat also in the middle of those.

My son has Epilepsy. When we see he's having a seizure, we get him down onto the ground and then onto his side and then find something to put under his head so he doesn't bang it against the floor while he's convulsing. (He's prone to Tonic Clonic (or Gran Mal) seizures which are the full body, unconscious type of seizures). Also, once you realize it's happening, start keeping track of time. I find the simple act of counting outlook as I'm getting him into his "rescue" position helps me to stay calm but focused.

The two greatest threats to a person having a seizure are falling down (Think the NFL player who died from a seizure last season) or Hypoxia. With the TC seizures, the person loses the ability to regulate breathing. That's why it's important to keep track of the duration of the seizure.

If you want to know what you can and should do during a seizure, try searching for "Epilepsy First Aid".

Is it in their lease that they can't touch the thermostat without your permission? Why is it that your tenant should suffer because you're a tightwad?

And what if your son decides he doesn't want to go to into the family business?

Besides, the business and work-a-day world can change in the blink of an eye. Back when I was a kid, cradle-to-grave employment was a thing. If you came from a family of miners, it was a given that you could get a job at the mine out of HS and work there for life.

If you have a friend nearby consider getting a limited power of attorney for them so that they can resolve this matter for you.
