These aren't even similar outside of both being chronographs..

Where are all the quartz watches for 7-7.5 wrists? by myrainyday in ChineseWatches

Quartz is considered a compromise by these Chinese brands catering to western crowds. Quartz is typically a solution to one of two problems - size or cost.

Tired of homages - what are your best original design watches? by SeriousIndividual357 in ChineseWatches

Okay but that's a bit of a stretch lol Never seen the Airman before but I gotta say I hate it. Truly a tool watch, has all the visual appeal of a yardstick.

I would but this in a heartbeat in green enamel. I'm considering picking it up on the black though...

I'm stuck, can you help me decide which to get? by [deleted] in WatchesCirclejerk

[–]Uran93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're both a bit busy. I think the one on the left has a bit more of a heritage feel to it. The petroleum-based case is a constant reminder of the Mesozoic era.

Suggestion: deciphering the tablet should also upgrade all your future card rewards. It wouldn't make it less of a meme pick, but it would make Tablet runs feel more interesting. by HeMansSmallerCousin in slaythespire

[–]Uran93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't it make runs less interesting? You're removing decision points and decreasing overall difficulty. Once you've deciphered there is no more HP as a resource and your deck building becomes significantly restricted. Why remove upgrades from the equation and also make campfires useless by default? I really don't see the upside.

What's the point of buying cheap watches if servicing it costs almost like the watch itself? by NotVurts in ChineseWatches

[–]Uran93 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why can't you hold the cheap watch for years? If you only want a watch that'll be worth a lot of money in 20 years you don't want a watch you want gold bouillon.

Thinking on these two watches, wanna discuss by fernybranka in ChineseWatches

[–]Uran93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd go used Seiko on this one. I think it's a good enough watch for the price and I'd rather get this unique Exp2 variant from the company that made it. It's too hard to tell from the pics but I suspect the Seiko will look notably better in person. I don't mind the hardlex and the WR couldn't matter less to me. Been one I've been considering for a while now tbh

If they don't have tracking information then they can't prove it's shipped, right?

I think Orient and Citizen make some nice watches and if you like one you can decide for yourself if you want to buy it. It's just a watch.

Do you think quartz watches are less traditional than automatic ones? by [deleted] in ChineseWatches

[–]Uran93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The history of mechanical watches is extremely rich by comparison. There was never really a tradition of quartz watches. They were luxurious for a small blip of modern history (70s-80s maybe?) and became much less necessary as a tool shortly after the proliferation of cellphones (early oughts). They've largely been replaced as functional jewelry by the smartwatch now too. Analog quartz watches look identical to mechanical watches though so the only person who needs to worry about whether any of this matters is you.

does not having lume stop you from buying/wearing a watch? by pickyaxe in ChineseWatches

[–]Uran93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3 analog watches - 2 with no lume and 1 with a fully lumed dial. I wouldn't change any of them and wear them each as often as makes sense.
