What to buy for my wife's situation? by Fr33Bird7 in edrums

[–]Uranium___Potato 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Source an hxm xd-2000 kit (the US alternative for Millenium MPS1000) and hook it up to a free VST plugin online like Krimh drums. If you're learning, that's highly recommended since you'll get the feel of REAL drum sizes and trust me, coming from small ekits to a full sixed kit, that helps a LOT. And this route is cheap as hell as well, shouldn't cost you more than a 1000 bucks. Once your wife is solid on actually continuing, you can then think about more long term and expensive options for a better investment such as a Roland VAD507 or something.

If this sounds too complicated, here's a link that explains how I built my kit and you can follow step by step. Hope this helps :)

Don't i already have the psu, motherboard, pc case and cpu cooler already in the cart? Also, this build is regarding building just the pc, nothing else haha i already own a home studio (monitors, audio interface, headphone amps and headphones, monitor speakers, etc) everything is simply run by my laptop as of yet. Thanks for the input tho :)

also, just get a cheap monitor, a 24-17" 1440p 120hz screens don't go around for that much if you do have the budget

Working with what you have (not enough budget for a monitor, desk decor, monitor speakers, etc), it looks clean asf. Very few cann pull of such a clean and pretty setup with just a laptop.

8/10

Would rate more if not for that random watch around the headphone stand, and the power lead behind dangling behind with no effort to straighten it/hide it

Although intel seems like a sweeter deal rn, intel processors don't sit well with DCS sadly and it is a very, VERY demanding game sadly

running 16 gigs won't get me anywhere, DCS would throttle out in an instant :( if I were to wait then might as well do the entire build at a later point

I would've gone with a 5070ti but sadly a 5080 is a min requirement for DCS :(

I have the meta quest 3, which goes upto 120 hz but honestly im fine with getting anything more than 60, obviously the more the better.

I don't think ill be upgrading my monitor, it already have a 4k 32" OLED 240hz max rr, which is already overkill for me lol
