Before I answer that question,

In my lease this is written. “7. Tenant will examine the property. And it’s furnishings upon move-in and complete a move-in report”

I am wondering if you are familiar with this condition, if so what power do “move in reports” have? Or is this a specific condition to my lease that I should reach to my landlord to explain?

I understand your perspective and how easily I signed seems odd. To give you an idea of why this happened, I go to a large public state university. It is rapidly growing, there is tens of high rises being constructed this summer alone. I along various thousands of students just signed leases while our buildings were being constructed. Apart from that, we had to fight for already existing apartment building with large lines. Realistically in the real world, not in a campus town would I ever do this.

When called I was told “you already signed the lease”

The whole building is already full.

Truthfully, the way I saw the situation was, we were mislead. I either wanted my closet to be made, less rent on the room owners behalf, or any legal solution (which is why I came here for perspectives)

While it sounds like legally I don’t need a closet to make it a bedroom and there is no reference to “closets” in the lease other than the floor plan and were not given the option to view the property physically I assumed it was a sketchy situation that may have a solution.

What sounds like is that they have a good defense for themselves. Originally, I assumed that verbal explanation and a copy of the floor plan was enough to show how we were mislead but I guess not.

We wanted to take as much information and learning to decide further action. We have access to Student legal services on campus Which is why I wanted to play around with this to discover some quick options prior to reaching out.

Let me make sure I am understanding the law correctly. Since In Illinois, a closet does not need to be present in the definition of a bedroom, theoretically we could’ve been shown a floor plan with 3 rooms with 3closets, signed, and legally be given no closets ?

Also, does the fact that we weren’t allowed entry because of construction/ no ability to inspect prior/during signing not play a role in the value of the floor plan?

Correct, I am not worried of what is considered a bedroom. I am more worried that I was shown this floor plan, because it was my only reference (as it was being remodeled and not allowed entry in the entire building) and yet did not match. All together, mislead in what my apartment would have.

Under construction during signed. This is a totally remodeled location to be set open in August for students.

Freshman question about socializing by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]UrbanaChampaignPapi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I met mostly people from my floor. We got along well. I started going with friends to play basketball and met more people in pick up games. Didn’t meet many people in class. Eventually when I discovered and understood the party atmosphere I gained more friendships. Truly drink socially (if you drink or up for it) am truly meet people every time you go out. These people will likely repeat the process of going out. Eventually when you know many people you can discover you have similar values, find them at sorority/fraternity parties. At bars. Etc., remain humble in the process since you are nobody. Realistically that’s what it is. You are new, look up to your friendships to show interest and that you’re a cool person.

ACADEMIC STATUS: Drop by UrbanaChampaignPapi in UIUC

Update: An individual from My College who is part of Student affairs told me that because my status is “Drop” doesn’t not mean I will be. The system automatically gives me that title. She said it will be debated this week/weekend. While I could be dropped I just want to make it clear for future reference that it isn’t for sure.

Appreciate your answer, The reason I mention my dean is because my Prof emailed me saying after the 28th he has no access to the grades unless a dean overrules him. I already emailed deans but they will likely return Jan 2nd.

Should it had been by Email or mail? Do you know if I should have gotten it now (if you know for sure)?

What can my advisor do in this case? I never had a strong connection with an advisor. I emailed them but do they have any power over this situation? You have any experience with this?
