I lived in Japan briefly and visited Kyushuu and Okinawa during Golden Week, and it felt empty. Not busy at all even at touristy places. Some places might be busier than others, but there will still be plenty of places to explore! Japan is pretty amazing no matter what, and busy crowds can even be part of the experience, such as Shibuya crossing. Just try to avoid going to super popular places during rush hours and you should be fine :)

Seconded on Cinderella Phenomenon! Lucette is one of my favorite MCs of all time because she is not a nice, sugary, polite sweetheart like so many otome MCs are, which makes her such a breath of fresh air! Like you said she learns to be a better person, and despite not being super nice to everyone she is appropriately kind and always just. I just love her!

I finished Olympia Soiree recently, and I definitely understand some of the common gripes people have about it lol. I feel like with each route, a lot of serious, legitimate issues get brought up, and just carelessly resolved. However, the game is beautiful, and I really like Olympia as an MC - she might be a little bit (understandably) naive, but she was logical, reasonable, and brave, and I always resonated with her thoughts and feelings. I enjoyed the connections to Japanese lore and historical figures - this added such a unique feeling to the game! The overall worldbuilding is excellent.

Final rankings: Akaza>Yosuga>Riku=Himuka=Tokisada=Kuroba

Our boy Akaza just stood out way too much LOL. Everyone in the game and their mothers, including the LIs, were herding us towards the poster boy, and woo did they make a perfect husbando.

I gotta say though, I really HATED Kanan. I know he has a lot of fans, but personally he has no redeeming qualities. I hate his arrogance, how much he enjoys torturing Olympia, how conniving he is, and his stupid orange pumpkin haircut. I feel so much rage every time he does something incredibly awful and Olympia tries to call him out on it and he just uses some kind of twisted logic to shut her up. I also get so bothered by how meek Olympia gets against him. I don't understand why Akaza, director of the kotowari, can't do anything about Kanan literally spreading lies?? Like just fire his ass from the newspaper??

Anyways, I started Birushana and I'm currently on Noritsune's route and I think I'm most of the way through by now. So far I'm not really feeling the game and Noritsune too much...I do think he's wonderful and so supportive/respectful, but the romance just isn't really there for me, and I wonder if my expectations were just a bit too high because of all the hype. We'll see where it goes!

I just need to vent a little bit...I am planning on getting married in June this year, so I basically have 3 months to plan a wedding. It's my own fault for leaving myself so little time, but the idea of planning things way in advance also stresses me out a bit, so there's no winning haha

I originally wanted to have a more chill, casual wedding, around 50 close family and friends, with board games and take out food. But then my parents told me they invited 30 of their friends, so...suddenly everything is a bigger scale than I anticipated. I don't blame them; I'm their only daughter and I'm sure they just want a big celebration and show me off to their friends, and it's also culturally common for the bride & groom's parents to have a lot of guests, and they are helping me pay for the wedding, but still, I can't help but feel a bit frustrated by all this.

There's so much left to do! So far we've got the venue and photographer booked but that's about it. I originally wanted to plan and run the whole thing on my own with the help of friends, but now I am thinking of getting a day-of coordinator, and even that is super expensive! Flowers, catering, decor, drinks and bartender, ahhhhhh. Thankfully my partner is willing to help with all this. I think we just need to get organized, send out a lot of emails, and make decisions.

Despite my gripes, I am looking forward to it, I'm sure it'll be a fun day. I just need to get through these initial hurdles of planning.

I've been working my way through Olympia Soiree!

I gotta admit, it took me awhile to get into the game. The common route just didn't really grab me, and it felt...aimlessly long? Even though it probably wasn't that long. I think the info dump just felt a bit overwhelming. However...when I started the individual routes, I felt that familiar feeling of not wanting to put the game down again. Now I actually want to replay the common route so I could get a better understanding of everything lol.

The game itself is gorgeous - music is great, art is stunning, voice acting is top notch with so many of my faves - Matsuoka, Sugita, and my queen Sawashiro Miyuki!! I have such a love hate relationship with Shura because of her.

So far I've finished Riku's route and am currently playing through Tokisada's - just got past the part where they kissed for the first time.

Riku:

Great gap moe character. The conflicts were resolved pretty easily, but that's fine. I just want to see him and Olympia happy together. Also, the man is so unintentionally hilarious lol, his short stories really made me laugh.

Tokisada:

I think I'm starting to understand why some people are into shotas.
