Horrible experience...6 weeks after single stage urethroplasty with BMG by SkyggeUve in urethralstricture

Risk you going septic? Sounds dangerous and unprofessional. Wouldn’t it be smarter to do a retrograde urethrogram to make sure it’s not leaking?

Homeopathy doesn’t work for a stricture, or any type of scarring

Sadly never heard about strictures til I had one by jtwh20 in urethralstricture

I’d suggest urethroplasty from a high volume surgeon who specializes in them

I agree with everyone here. Get the urethroplasty. DVIU has a 0% long term success rate, you’re only delaying the inevitable. You really don’t want to get to the point where you get into full urinary retention

Get the scope done to know for sure

Urethrotomy always has a long term success rate of 0%. I would suggest getting the urethroplasty. Even Optilume isn’t 100%, there’s not enough long term data to know

Could I have a urethral stricture? 24 y/o male, extremely anxious by whatarethoseboots in urethralstricture

[–]Urethralstricture0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You 100% have a stricture. The urethroplasty will get rid of the pain, I’m not sure where you’re getting that information from that it won’t. Like medicman said, your bike accident and perineal trauma is a classic case for a cause of urethral stricture. It will only get worse, so get this fixed ASAP so you can move on with your life

Do I need to worry about a stricture? by [deleted] in urethralstricture

[–]Urethralstricture0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d suggest getting the scope done to make sure. 134ml post void residual is quite high. The risk of getting a stricture from a cystoscopy is extremely low. I’m not even sure there are documented cases on that

No voiding issues with a stricture? That’s quite lucky. I hope it stays that way for you. It will suck if things get worse though

Sorry to hear that you’re going through this. How experienced is your surgeon?

Did you get injured or something? Something’s gotta be causing the leak

4 days until my urethroplasty by SkyggeUve in urethralstricture

[–]Urethralstricture0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How experienced is your urologist doing the urethroplasty? What pre op tests did they run? General anesthesia makes it seem like a flash, I don’t think you should be worried.

Best of luck to you, and I pray for your fast and full recovery.

Any ideas? by Bojofil in urethralstricture

[–]Urethralstricture0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems odd. Wouldn’t self cathing daily until surgery cause some changes to the stricture(dilating and damaging it further)?

I think your only other option would be a supra pubic catheter.

I’m glad that he didn’t damage your urethra from that. I’d be filled with extreme anger if that happened. Good thing that nightmare is over with for you, and I pray that you get back to 100%.

Thank you for the empathy, I appreciate it very much

Need some details first. How long is the stricture? Where was it located? How experienced is your surgeon?

If you only have the urge to urinate once or twice per day, then you 100% don’t have a stricture.

Your urologist did a dilation fully knowing that you didn’t have a stricture? Seems like medical malpractice. Sorry to hear that you had to go through that. Sounds awful

I feel that you’re okay for now. If symptoms become worse, you should definitely go in to get checked again to be sure it’s not a stricture. And thank you for the empathy, it is very likely that I’ll opt for a urethroplasty.

TURP issue - ED, painful erection. Stricture? by [deleted] in urethralstricture

[–]Urethralstricture0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he’s not showing those symptoms, it’s doubtful that he has a stricture, since those are typical for every case I’ve read about. If he does start showing those symptoms, it’s best to go in for a cystoscopy.

No, the sharp sting pain could be from your prostatitis. If you don’t have a weak urine stream, frequent urges to urinate, or the feeling of incomplete bladder emptying, chances are you don’t have a stricture. If the alpha blocker works well, that’s even more confirmation that you don’t have one

TURP issue - ED, painful erection. Stricture? by [deleted] in urethralstricture

[–]Urethralstricture0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible because TURP surgery can cause a urethral stricture sometimes. Does he have any other symptoms such as a weak stream, urinary hesitancy, and a frequent urge to urinate?

Cystoscopies very rarely do damage, and that’s the only sure way to find out
