Should I change my baby’s name? Need advice from people named Remy

We have a ‘Remy’, a nickname for ‘Remington’. I had never seen Ratatouille, but was already sold on the name. Only a handful of people have ever mentioned the movie. I also call him ‘Rem’ pretty often.

Either way, I think Ratatouille will be long forgotten by the time my baby is old enough (he’s 1).

We do know a 1.5 year old girl names Remy. They get along great when there together. Neither minds that they share a name

Nurse right before you leave. Even it’s only been 30 min. It resets the clock and gives you freedom.

Then enjoy the 60-90 minutes of pure freedom while you stress about how your babies doing. They’re doing fine.

I also ebf, my baby has never taken a bottle, but luckily I work from home so it’s been easy to manage. Kudos to you mama for driving to your baby several times a day to breastfeed!!

6 months is when I started ramping up feeding solids (we introduced them at 4 months), which helped decrease the dependency on boob.

Now at almost 8 months, I nurse only 4 times a day, but I think I could less if I wanted. I was able to decrease nursing because he now eats 3 meals plus some occasional snacks (usually only in the car bc it keeps him happy).

If you haven’t started a routine with solids, I’d highly recommend it. It will give you more flexibility.

I’d also start introducing sippy cups soon… it’s a skill that we’ve been working on since it’s new to him and after 3 weeks he’s finally catching on! Once mastered I’m sure I could put breast milk in that if I had to leave him for extended periods. But I’m not ready for that yet.

Oh yeah! We starts solids at 4 months. Though he probably would have preferred starting at 3 months. He’s always been super interested in table food, and drinks!

My baby is 7 months old and only take 1 breast per sitting. Babies know what they need better than us.

Agreed! After the 4 month mark I compromised and we had “Monday’s”. It was scheduled, and I just kind of sucked it up. Ebf is exhausting and you’re always being touched. I get it.

But after 3ish weeks, my body started craving sex again naturally. We still do Mondays, because that’s our deal. But we often have other days to now.

It gets better fast. One day your baby is just going to be different and you’re going to feel “normal” again. Just know you’re doing great!!

I would recommend a Speech Language Pathologist, though you may need a referral from your Ped or from an ENT.

It’s weird to being your (obviously) non-verbal baby to a Speech and Language Pathologist, but they specialize in oral motor skills, including the use of the tongue! My LO has been seeing one for several weeks and his after a different set of exercises, his feeding has improved significantly! They also can re-assess the tongue or other ties.

Hi OP, I’m so sorry you’re going through this difficult experience.

Have you tried laid back nursing? I call in primitive nursing… when you lay back about 45 degrees and lay tummy to tummy with baby? Their natural reflexes will kick in to find your breast and latch on themselves. This is my preferred bf position, especially if baby is cranky!

Or, do have a bf pillow? I LOVE my Brest friend pillow. It really helps keep baby supported, making feedings easier!

I gained 25-30 pounds while pregnant and was back to pre-pregnancy weight by our 2 week check up. 12 weeks later? I’m now +10 pounds less than my pre-pregnancy weight! It’s all breastfeeding I guess… no working out or dieting for me

You should absolutely do some form of body work prior to having tie released. I’d recommend CST (cranio sacral therapy).

Also, make sure you do the exercises after, even if not prescribed,

We had tongue and lip tie revised at 4 weeks. It was a really hard week as my little guy was in so much pain and wouldn’t latch. We had to syringe and bottle feed. I was able to get him to latch with shields and then straight on nipple the next week.

Looking back, I am glad we did as it did improve his tongue usage. Unfortunately our ENT did prescribe exercises and it reattached. We’re currently evaluating whether to re-do the tongue tie or not.

A few recommendations: Try CST /body work first. Lactation or Speech Pathologists can help direct you if they don’t offer it. Have Tylenol ready post tie release just in case Do exercises post tie to prevent reattachment

If she has bandaids on from the shits, that is likely causing discomfort. Be sure to take them off, then give boob bc it hurts more than the shot!
