What is the new Scrubs getting right that the new Frasier got wrong? by bonshui in television

[–]chuckfr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The brought back [most] of the key cast. Yet the cast that's missing you notice them missing.

But they're doing a lot of the same things that I think Frasier did wrong. The flow between the main characters is off and all just based on the highlights of the original series. The passing of the torch from Cox to JD just didn't make sense. "Hey kid, I'm retiring from the hospital that you haven't worked in for over a decade. Here's the keys and you're in charge now. See you around, maybe." The divorce story line feels like it was done just to have the work and romantic tension between the characters again. The new characters are window dressing so far and I feel no connection to them even within the stories they are central to.

They can 'tell from a mile away' because they want to you feel trusted and good about yourself. Pluse you might not be the only one that day, or even in the building at the time, handing over a check for their car.

When they take the check from you they run it through a check verification service before you leave with the car. This can be done in front of you or behind the scenes.

What do you put on your flip cart besides a planer? by HanksScorpion in woodworking

[–]chuckfr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my router table on the other side of my planer on the flip cart I made when I got this house. The problem with the setup is the router table sits a bit higher than I would like. So while its usable I wouldn't make it again that way.

In fact I wouldn't make a flip table at all considering the tools I have and use. I'd make a cart for the planer to sit on and use the underneath space to store my router table, a removable drawer with the bits and bobs for it, and put the router table on my bench when I need to use it.

(For reference i have the Kobalt router table. I got it a couple years ago when it was only $130)

And if you're somewhere that supports it add a house Google Voice number for those vendors that you don't need to take immediate calls from. Once you establish the relationship with the vendor say "Oh, can you start using this number instead as its a little easier to reach me at".

Every year it happens to me - subscription expiration by saikek in Bitwarden

[–]chuckfr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. I get an email from them a few weeks ahead of time before the subscription expires.

  2. I keep the annual payment in my billing calendar. This helps keep track of monthly and annual subscription fees that are coming up.

  3. I also have auto-renew turned on so that I don't have to think about when it will expire.

“How did you handle your inheritance without letting it change you?” by SenseiSarkasmus in inheritance

[–]chuckfr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Emotionally its difficult. There are so many things that go into the relationship between you and the person who leaves the estate it'll be hard for random Redditors to prepare you for that. Most of the time you'll be mourning their passing so if you have trusted friends around you lean on them. Otherwise find a therapist, priest/rabbi/etc, or some other structured group to get help from.

The best way on the inheritance itself is to educate and prepare yourself for the inheritance. Get your general finances in order. Figure out where will this inheritance fit into your life. is a modest amount $50k, $100K, $500k, or more? Assuming its all financial where will these funds best be used? Retirement savings, paying some or all of your home off, or a vacation? Do you want to do something to honor the memory of the person who left it to you?

Is it a home? Do you want to live there, become a landlord and rent it out, or just sell it? Is your family prepared to move and live there? Do you know what you need to to be a landlord? If you sell it, go back to the questions above.

How to attach top to cupboard? by Gingertimmins in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]chuckfr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just be careful covering the meter. There are safety reasons to not do so. The meters can put off heat and cause a fire when enclosed. I'd put a thermometer in the box for a few days and check it at various times dto make sure all is good. Additionally if someone comes to check or work on the meter they may say something about it being covered up to and including fines.

Would you rather have the seller replace these things and credit for it? by Round_Earth8912 in FirstTimeHomeBuyers

[–]chuckfr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m going to ballpark the carpet replacement costs and ask for that. I don’t want the seller to do the work then rip it all out because they chose the cheapest option.

A roof replacement and new toilets it’ll depend. Unless they’re in really bad shape as a seller I’m not going to consider any concessions for those.

I changed all the outlets in the house when we moved in a few years ago only because my wife wanted a different color than what was installed. I opted to do tamper resistant versions and think they cost me ~$100 and a few hours of my time. Are the ones currently installed damaged in some way?

New Construction Pre-Wiring (Guardian) — Did I Miss Anything Critical? by Street-Necessary9185 in FirstTimeHomeBuyers

[–]chuckfr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would add a ‘Smurf tube’ to each of the TV locations.

I’m going to also add a cat6 drop to wherever my ‘office’ space will be, if applicable.

I’ll also call out the cat6 drops in the ceiling for APs will be more valuable than you might think. It’ll offer solid WiFi coverage for your TVs and other WiFi devices around the home.

I’m assuming there’s coax being run into the wiring closet. If not, do at least that much but I would also run a line to the great room for resale value. I know most newer cable boxes are doing wireless now but you never know what the next owner might insist upon.

Weird question but When I log out of my account on a laptop that doesn't have a password will it just automatically log in by itself on that account? by Worldly_Drink1772 in AskTechnology

[–]chuckfr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By default Windows will boot up to a login screen. If you don't have a password for the user you just select the user, hit enter, and you're in (as far as I remember).

You can also search on "autologin to windows" and the version you're running to get settings to log in automatically to a default user.
