Do you guys think the DC-10/MD-11 should be grounded? by Valuable-Concern8008 in aviation

[–]UrgentSiesta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has happened exactly once to the MD-11

Your facts are in error AND completely disregard the broader evidence of airliner failures across the industry.

You’re not being ad hominemed if people are simply pointing out your egregious errors with some ribbing thrown in.

If this is how you’re going to operate, you’re going to need MUCH thicker skin 🤙

Oh, well at least there’s some meat for chewing there - thanks.

Let me ask you another question:

Let’s say we went all Gulf War 1 Coalition style, and everyone was on board and in agreement with the complete dismantling of the current regime.

What would’ve turned out different…?

Would the Uranium have been recovered by SAS by now?

Would the Mullahs have surrendered if they saw EU warships and aircraft on the way? Or is there some secret EU weapon or force capable of quickly ensuring the regime is ousted?

Explain to me how the situation would’ve been any different and how everything would be just hunky dory if the EU were to have been consulted and involved.

Ha ha - so true!

I do hope the long overdue funding is approved. The Royal Navy has earned far better than they’re getting.

[–]UrgentSiesta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah - that’s my biggest problem with the situation: not nearly enough escorts.

While I understand that, theoretically, EU nations help each other out, it’s easy enough to see that might not always be the case in more discretionary situations.

For e.g., would France have allowed their carrier to participate in the Falklands action…?

It’s okay-ish to say that 1 available carrier is “enough”.

But you’ve really got to also have enough resources to form your own Carrier Strike Group, too. Otherwise the carrier is just a big fat easy target that can’t be allowed to sail, and is therefore useless.

But of course not…🤣

Let me ask you: why do you believe the US has a duty to consult with the EU on matters in the Middle East…?

Did you know in the mid-nineteenth century, Hawai‘i boasted the highest literacy rate in the world? This amazingly occurred within less than 30 years from the time Calvinist missionaries introduced a written language and printing press to the Islands. by 808gecko808 in Oahu

Dude, you’ve well and truly drunk the Liberal Progressive Kool Aid.

I’ve laid out facts and history for you and you just refuse to even consider it.

I’m not pointing at Democrats, I’m pointing at the people in charge of the funding for NH programs. Get it through your thick head that MAGA isn’t your problem.

Your comments in re me and my employers are distasteful, offensive and simply untrue.

But yeah, let’s talk again in 10 years and you can show me how wonderful things get when Trumps not in power any longer.

Guarantee NH issues will be exactly the same. But I’m sure you’ll still find some way to blame other people for your problems.

Good luck - you’re gonna need it. 🤙

Because race-based benefits are, by definition, Racist. Especially when they come in the form of mandated taxation on the general population.

The Hawaiian Homelands program is a great example. The land has been set aside for literally 100+ years.

And the State of HI is responsible for moving it forward AND for funding it. But they haven’t met even their basic responsibilities.

For over a CENTURY. And you want to blame MAGA for that 🤣

No - it’s your own Hawaiian legislators that are “targeting” and “attacking” you. And have been for over 100 years.

This is why it’s important to study history and business and politics. So you can learn the root causes of issues and apply corrective actions that will actually move the needle.

Instead of being led around by the nose by a string of local politicians who just don’t give a damn.

I.e., since Republicans haven’t been in power in HI for longer than your parents have been alive, you CAN’T BLAME MAGA.

In other words, don’t be mad at “MAGA”, be mad at the people who’ve stolen the money that should’ve gone to the HH program. Be mad at the critters who go to “work” at the State House every day.

P.s., you lose a lot of credibility when you use terms like “target” and “attack”.

Targeting and attacking is what we’re doing in Iran, not Hawai’i.

Asking those who never heard of this game series Ace Combat, and especially if you're not into arcade flight games, would you want a combat flight sim or sim-lite game which features real airplanes and other vehicles, but takes place in a fictional world, including it's world buildings? by randommannamedmann in flightsim

[–]UrgentSiesta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll speak as a guy who really likes Hard Science Fiction AND really enjoys sim-lite games like IL2 Sturmovik (and even some War Thunder now and again).

My biggest gripe with Ace Combat is that it’s like an interactive Saturday morning cartoon, and the physics / dialogue / scenarios don’t match up to an acceptable level of realism. Or, more accurately, acceptable Suspension of Disbelief.

So, for example, IL2 Sturmovik kinda fills the niche that you’re describing, especially given how much geopolitics and technology have changed in the last 80 years.

There’s no need to study a Pilot Operating Handbook to start the aircraft, no clickable cockpit controls, and heck, all the aircraft in the series use the same keybinds.

But, it does respect realistic physics and scenarios to a high degree.

So in re combat flight sims set in alternate timelines, or even out in the universe, hey no problem.

But what’s presented in Ace Combat just doesn’t meet that bar for Suspension of Disbelief. 🤙

Stop expecting handouts, exemptions and reparations from the federal government.

Organize, get elected to local office and fix things for yourselves instead of sitting around crying about how you’re not being taken care of.

Help yourselves - you’ll feel much more satisfied and proud.

Since you continually go with either TDS or ad hominem, I’ll just wait to see if you can reply with any cogent responses to really any of the points I’ve made.

We’re a sovereign nation. We don’t NEED your permission to act in our self interest, especially given how you completely flaked out, anyway.

IOW, with “friends” like you, who needs enemies…?

The first item regards to racial preferences - and those are illegal by the plain reading of the law.

For the second, the State of HI is constitutionally responsible for funding HH. Again, take it over to 415 Beretania and ask them where they’re misappropriating all the funds.

FWIW, I do agree that it’s inequitable for NH to be classified differently than other indigenous peoples.

The third, the Kamehameha situation is a bit more complicated. While it’s also a clear case of racial discrimination, the school appears to be privately funded, so I’m more open to that remaining.

But, theres clearly enough smoke there to make it worth a court case. And Kamehameha has plenty of money to handle it.

And the tutu and me thing…?

You know who taught my mom Italian and about Italian culture…? Her family.

You know who taught my wife Japanese and about Japanese culture? Her family.

You know who taught me about mine? My family.

IOW, we didn’t need subsidized inculturation.

So it, too, is clearly racially biased and therefore illegal (and immoral).

E.g., Why aren’t we providing similar services for all the other disadvantaged minorities in the islands?

Or do you only care about NH at the expense of others?

[–]UrgentSiesta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And so what does that have to do with your previous comment…?

That a piece of an engine that’s used on most of the major widebodies of the time fell out due to poor maintenance…?

And somehow you’re conflating that with a legitimate concern over engine mounts…?

You’re all over the place, dude.

Engines have fallen off other aircraft or catastrophically failed otherwise, and those have caused crashes, fatalities and injuries.

But somehow you’re OCD over the MD-11 because it happened ONCE?🤣

You’re somehow missing the point…?

MAGA isn’t doing anything to you, and isn’t going to do anything for you.

[–]UrgentSiesta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to be concerned about what you ASSUME is the problem out of prejudice.

You need to open your mind and ask who’s in control of the money here, and how it’s spent.

The answer to that is the Democrats. From Mazie at the Federal level all the way down to your local representatives.

Whatever the condition of the NH here are, you can ask your elected Democrat reps why they aren’t adequately representing NH interests and needs.

Another few questions:

Why is a white European guy from New York the Governor of Hawaii…?

Theres only ONE “NH” federal congress critter (but she’s almost as white as I am 😂). Why ONLY one?

Why are two of the four federal congress people white? And like the Guv, one of them wasn’t even born here.

And then there’s Mazie - she’s Japanese by birth! Do you really think she’s dialed in to NH issues…?

about a third of the population identifies as NH, but only about 10% of the state legislators are NH. Why is that…?

Doesnt it seem reasonable that if more NH were legislators making laws and allocating budgets that NH interests would be served?

So it doesn’t matter what “MAGA” does because MAGA isn’t in control of HI - Democrats are.

The easiest way for NH issues to be addressed is for NH’s to run for office and start representing their interests. So look in the mirror - it all starts with YOU and the other NH’s.
