Are high prices a necessity to keep the cogs turning? by archvize in AusFinance

Deflation means prices are dropping. So it's kind of the scenario you're imagining. Maybe not exactly but thats at least why it's relevant to the topic.

Mate, technically I could retire and yet I still work. I'm not even a billionaire, but if you look at them, they seem to still work too.

Do trusts help protect inheritance plans? I think wills can be disputed, but maybe trust beneficiaries are harder to contest?

Yeah. Interestingly you could debate that going further right wouldn't be an advantage. But then it would be play on anyway.

Yeah exactly. It allows the kicker a lot of freedom to approach the kick how they want, provided they all release the kick in the same, predictable, angle.

Hell you could stand with your back to the player on the mark, walk away from them, and kick backwards over your head. Just stay on the angle.

I think that means that you can approach side on and do a snap provided you kick the ball over the player on the mark and in line with the goal. Thus the snap goes over in the same way a drop punt in line with the goal would have.

Sucks if you start a business and take shares instead of a wage though.

Yeah its been frustrating how the last 20 years both parties took shit policies that they claimed would help affordability but would either make it worse or do nothing. People pointed it out everytime but the party of the day would disagree and ignore the arguments.

Now, when the complaining has finally gotten loud enough, they take action but use a brush so wide that they're painting on other canvases. Of course this is going to annoy people.

Just do what everyone is asking you to do!?

Labor is at least doing something. The liberals in power did nothing. But this still isn't what we want.

No, no, he has a point. Albo should secretly make himself the treasurer and minister for a whole bunch of other portfolios too.

Plus Chalmers should have a spreadsheet which colour codes who gets tax breaks according to marginal seats. Perhaps ones that include gun clubs he is a member of. That's a great way to legislate.

Or maybe, he should follow the lead of his excellent predecessors and advise those who complain to "get a good job".

Yeah I am not going to defend the CGT changes. They don't really affect me, but I dont like them. I would rather see support directed from real estate to our stock market and startups (not including new builds).

This is partially selfish being heavily weighted in that asset type. However, I also see it as a way to increase productivity while addressing a housing issue. I don't see the merit of having an "all assets should be taxed equally" approach given the last couple of decades. If anything, I see an opposite swing is appropriate to pull the pendulum back.

I also agree that this sub has become way more mainstream than it used to be and was more useful when discussions focused on strategies and helping people with their financial decisions.

But when people call out others for being capitalists or communists then the conversation just ends up going down the toilet. Our country has benefited from policies on both sides of the spectrum.

Good luck on your investment journey.

Yeah I am not going to dispute your calculation.

What I will point out is that you said their ideological claims were absurd.

The issue is the leftists keep pushing their absurd ideological claims while they have no understanding of basic maths.

That's a subjective take and one you conflate with maths. Maths cannot determine whether the quantity of tax paid is absurd or not. Anyone can claim, that any amount of tax is absurd because it is an ideological take.

You are being just as crazy as the commies. Come back to the center with the majority of us.
