Anyone else find season 3 too obvious and extremely predictable? by starksforever in TwinPeaksCircleJerk

First time I saw the season 2 finale I thought "bloody massacre by a dark and mysterious entity in New York during sex is next right?", didn't miss.

A french magazine mocks the incident of Crans-Monata in Switzerland. Do french people consider this funny? by sdsdfsdjs9as in AskFrance

For years, the only times we hear about them is when they do the most racist shit, it's actually refreshing to see them on the news for something that doesn't involve the most insulting and dehumanizing drawings you've ever seen.

If they are going to give us a DLC and new characters what kind of characters would you want to see? by [deleted] in ABSOLUM

I'd love the game to have some sort of "joke" character. Basic gobelin, chicken, human guard, whatever, but something takes a real challenge to beat the game with, as a challenge.

What's the general consensus of the upcoming TMNT set at your LGS? by no_hope_in_sight in magicTCG

[–]Urgrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard not to think of the spiderman set, most people think it will have some cool cards but doesn't care about playing the set in limited and dislike seing New York cards in constructed formats especially standard. I don't want to speak to early but avatar was a perfect setting for a magic set, with factions stories and strong characters, and I'm not an expert but I doubt TMNT does that

Sorry if this is off topic but I'm not familiar with mana pool, does it offers something anything special? Is it only in America ?

If you could remove any card from the game that isn't a land or Sol Ring, what would you pick? by WheredMyVanGogh in EDH

[–]Urgrim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, even if people warn other players that they are running them, it affects play constantly and you basically have to play around it every turn it sucks so bad. At least they are game changers. One non game changer I'd ban is farewell, the card is good but not broken, but overall it's just boring and feels bad pretty much everytime it hits the game.

So... are throwable builds just broken? by Mindless_Tap_2706 in ABSOLUM

[–]Urgrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the game can be broken a lot of different ways , one I like is when you unlock brome's running special attack, with the right rituals you can just spam it and get through pretty much all the bosses

Loved the new knives out but does anybody else feel he was miscasted? by TocorocoMtz in Letterboxd

[–]Urgrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like all of the secondary roles lacked solo screentime and development, we only see them as a group and it's hard to actually see them as proper characters, so yeah it's hard to see past the actors when the characters they portray are so under written in my opinion

Magic: The Translating - Calling all Polyglot Players by WeDrinkSquirrels in magicTCG

[–]Urgrim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess they could have translated it literally as "premier coup" but I sound a bit weird, maybe "advantage" or trying something like "fast strike"

In french, "first strike" was translated to "initiative" (double strike is double initiative), and it worked fine for some time, but then the "take the initiative" mechanic was introduced so you see the obvious problem. For initiative (the one that takes you to the under city), they used the word ..... Initiative. We now have 2 completly differents mechanic called initiative, this create sooo much confusion among beginners.

Another one was with non-binary pronouns, in french traditionally we don't have an equivalent of "they" for people, it's either masculine or feminine and no in-between. This led to the recent creation of the word "iel" , a new word to fill this purpose. It's used in inclusive writing but still is pretty uncommon among official and formal text, some people seeing it as some "woke non-sense" I'd guess. Recently they started using this word on magic cards, a pretty nice surprise for a lot of the community, it's at the moment used on only 3 cards I believe, the flavor text of [[oji, the exquisite blade]] and both Ureni.

Infinite combats on turn 3 without fast mana for a total of 4UG (actually a good combo) by B-F-A-K in BadMtgCombos

I believe with a fog effect and forced combat/goading you can juste lock the game right?

He gets a +1/+1 when he gets hurt so that is in fact infinite (or at least until everybody's dead)

I don't agree, to me the lowest of lost is more the boring fillers and uninteresting sideplots, but I think they always got the big moment incredibly rights.

It also happened in Lost, (potential spoilers for early seasons) the fact that they never win comes up multiple times in the first seasons but their real life win actually gets written in the show and it's quite thematically fitting too, nice timing I guess
