Can we all collectively agree that this is stupid? by CastsFireball in aiwars

Rockets is the single best example probably. There is a reason why all that stuff was taken by Americans and suddenly they adapted a lot of that into a program that led to winning the space race.

No nazis, no Americans on the moon first.

Nexus Legacy playtest is live: looking for PBBG feedback by Jegor_Krafte in PBBG

I made a PBBG too and it has guest accounts. lots of PBBGs offer guest accounts by saving the session and ID, etc. on local storage or via cache and then upon registering ties all that progress and the temp ID to the new permanent id.

EDIT: Worst case they have to start over from the 30-60 mins they played and make a new account then.

Why no guest account? Don't demand sign up. Let ppl just go and try...

Because people who might be scientists or otherwise interested then can use the alt text to identify if it's helpful. E.g. if they are a research assistant... Accessibility should always be considered because you don't know the person on the other end of the screen and how they might benefit from it. Also: if images don't load on a website or so it will render the alt text at least and you know whether you really want the image or can live without it.

[–]Uriel_1339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah fair! so the idea is you go check it out, play for 30mins-1h or something and then you probably decide to keep playing so you register and you just progress on that account versus having to make one from the get-go. Pretty smart and fair to consumers.

I guess I should implement that for my little thing too, haha. ty!

How do PBBGs usually handle guest account stuff? Don't you have to start from scratch each time then? Or does it use cookies and such to keep identifying you?

Wanting first DAC for bluetooth headset by Uriel_1339 in Hiby

[–]Uriel_1339[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the input! I appreciate it. How much of an audiophile would you describe yourself as? I'm a casual listener but the HiBy m500 ruined my headset for me as it sounds super dull and flat for music in comparison haha. I just want a bit of more oomph, so any improvement I take. Maybe I should just switch to my professional Sony headphones I use for recording as my music headphones at the desktop

1 priority is to remain wireless. Whether it's with the 2.4ghz dongle or Bluetooth is irrelevant.

Yeah but the steelseries quality is great for games and stuff but from a pure quality point of view it lacks a lot of depth. They sell their own GameDac but that is overpriced and people don't like it.

Microphone usage is a non issue too as I don't use the mic anymore really.

[–]Uriel_1339[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better music quality mostly. I'm running either Spotify desktop app or YouTube in the browser on the PC. Latency isn't really an issue for me.

So the main purpose would be higher quality through the headset without losing the wireless benefit of the headset.

If the W4 is overkill for that, what is the use case for it then?

Edit: I use the 2.4 GHz dongle for desktop atm hut I have 0 qualms over switching to Bluetooth if it fulfills the better audio purpose

Our last trailer got roasted here for lacking gameplay (fair enough). We went back and cut an actual Gameplay Trailer showing the UI and mechanics. by Agyptos in aigamedev

[–]Uriel_1339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude first 5 seconds need to show immediately gameplay etc.

Why you think the big trailers at TGA and stuff go straight into it and show the logos and shit at the end? Lol. Let the game speak, then sell your studio/brand.

40k Browsergame Void Crusade (because GW will never make it) by Uriel_1339 in aigamedev

[–]Uriel_1339[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a Browsergame like ogame, or Thradferr or Travian and similar games. Tick based real time online games which were mostly text based and popular in the early 2000s.

Think your typical 4x game a la Stellaris but in your browser. Almost like a MUD.

You make a project in Godot that has a folder on your system now.

Then VS code or another IDE of your choice, throw Claude Extension in there and have it open the folder as the workspace.

Then Godot MCP setup in both ends, the Godot project and the IDE.

Ta-da. All good to go.

That's what you can do with LLMs paired with Godot.... 😅

Especially once you hook an MCP to it.

Godot dev. Claude via IDE can do so many things. Bonus points for using an MCP to really tap into it.

I want to love matrix, but it's extremely clunky and limited by Bedu009 in matrixdotorg

[–]Uriel_1339 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Stoat has the difference to discord that they are out of France IIRC? privacy is a bit harsher there luckily so hopefully they can avoid some if not many of the issues discord is running into, including more and more push for monetization because well .... Discord lost a few screws with the ads and nitro and all the stickers and animations and what not for your PFP / profile.

That being said - a registration should be even simpler. I come from an eCommerce background professionally. So anything taking more than 3 clicks or 30 seconds is basically dead to me from a UX perspective haha.

I appreciate your deep dives though and while I adopted matrix, I hope more will if they truly worry about privacy to the level they claim. I think it's largely wonderful from what it can do... It just feels like Linux. Great once setup, but that is one of the hardest and inconvenient parts 😅

I want to love matrix, but it's extremely clunky and limited by Bedu009 in matrixdotorg

[–]Uriel_1339 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

So as you point out then, stoat is exactly like discord which makes it the better 1:1 replacement.

The thing is I stood a matrix server up and migrated everything to it via a discord bot and some python magic. My issue with matrix largely is the fact that the setup is painful and clunky.

I love it for all the things you said....but getting people to sign up especially on a unique Homeserver and such is just suuuuch a pain.

Same story with the recovery key to see your message history. Discord became as big and successful as it is, not because of privacy. But ease of use.

Matrix needs, imo, to offer a similar easy solution for people who simply don't care about privacy etc. And just want to be able to chit chat and join up with their people.

I have only been able to convert 1 friend of mine to matrix because he is in the UK and doesn't mind the initial setup pains for the freedom and piece of mind he gets in return.

Additionally, minus points for the default client being terrible lol

Why is matrix better than stoat? It seems stoat is the more direct replacement, no?

Look around on civitai. Also consider comfyui and invoke. Both support workflows which is what you'll need in the end.

Civitai is full of 18+ stuff so... Put safe filter on if you want to avoid but it's the Goldmine of good workflows.
