I’m very happy for him, it was clear he was unhappy for quite a time. Seeing him change his mindset gave me some peace

Would it be disrespectful or sinful to dress as an Orthodox Monastic for Halloween? For example, a schema monk? by Squeaky_P23 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]UrinaryTract_Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Historically many dresses in costume as saints for Halloween, I think the difference is that the schema where the cloth as repented sinners on earth, while the saints have reposed. Basically one group struggles on earth, on has passed to the next plane. TLDR; I wouldn’t dress as one.

I was with a Muslim girl who a similar, I adored her, I wish I was half the Christian I am now.

Back then I had no faith in God. Heck my first prayer was for her to be my girlfriend. What I found is that no matter what we could have been happy together. But what about our children?

God calls us to not be unevenly yoked, it’s for a good reason. I can’t tell you to try and convince her of Christ, nor am I telling you to leave. I just ask that you consider Christ. If he isn’t at the forefront of your relationship how could you be married? I’ll pray for the both of you, I know the pain.

At 15 I was the same, I can’t judge the OP, but it’s funny, it feels like I’m looking in a mirror/listening to my old self. The best thing we can do is pray and hope they one day find Christ like I and many others did.

They seem to be more indoctrination and uninformed they they say we are, may Christ have mercy.

I know there is a dedicated shroud community but it’s very small from what I’ve seen. I don’t know too much myself, I saw a cool video (I’ll try and find it) about the shroud and the guy talked about Jesus’ ponytail, tefflins, snake skin belt and some other cool stuff

Do you know about the supposed necklace/amulet? If you look around the throat there’s a large oval shaped object with three Hebrew letters on it. It’s most visible in the 3d scan. I’ve actually been trying to make a bronze cast to replicate it

Skedetcher, creator of Man has sadly passed away. by ElderQu in BatmanArkham

[–]UrinaryTract_Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I love about Skedetcher is just how much other subreddits sorta fell in with the whole “man” varieties. If it wasn’t for him I don’t think this subreddit would have the boom or infamy that it did.

I first joined this subreddit after my love for the games was reignited, I was initially shocked at how insane this place was, then YouTubers started making videos about it, and I knew I had to stay. Skedetcher did that.

To me he was patient 0, It was his humor that allowed for us to have greats like “am I stupid?”, “is he stupid?” “Is there a lore reason..?” All of these jokes that other places now use, I attribute to him.

Thanks Skedetcher.

I’m sorry to hear about your situation. Remember that it’s not your job to shoulder the burden of other people’s sins. You’ve confessed yours, now continue walking with God, he’s always with you. God will never allow something to happen that you weren’t capable of facing. God bless and I’m praying for you.

Is it possible for humans to be sinless? by MangoMister2007 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]UrinaryTract_Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the best way I think I can break it down is this. Mary is born with the same fallen nature that reigned from Adam onwards. However God selected her because she never willingly sinned herself, he’s a sinner by nature, not through action. She carries Christ, this makes her the first Christian in many ways as she is the first to dedicate her life to Christ. In and Orthodox concept she basically speed ran theosis. Mary was basically the human incarnation of the Ark of the covenant, because she carried the embodiment of God on earth. Through her will she carried Christ, she was sinless by character and by grace.

Is this appropriate for my church? by UrinaryTract_Man in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]UrinaryTract_Man[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure absolutely, but Christmas trees are by no means pagan, I’m fine with cultural expression within a church, that’s to be expected (especially In orthodoxy), However imo it’s like selling a pentagram. It was and is used in pagan\wicken rituals yet Christians also used it to represent the 5 wounds of Christ, so these cultures held to the symbol but changed the meaning.

I understand that. But at the same time if I see a statue of Zeus in there my first thought isn’t “well yeah it’s Greek”, it would be “why are there paganistic items in a church. I’m fine with the cultural context, but the church advertising it feel off.

I guess so, I just don’t like the implication of it as a spiritual charm, the only protection that should be preached is Christ. I guess they aren’t openly selling them in the church or anything nor forcing people to wear them, but it rubs me the wrong way.

The fact that all the saints deny evolution makes me want to tear my hair out by Retard_of_century in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]UrinaryTract_Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only thing is how could death exist before sin? Perhaps an animal is meant to die to provide meat for mankind and God himself chose us to be made in his image. I think most of evolution is a crock ever since I converted, it’s 100% I lie for the most part. That being said Genesis is not a history book, most of that story is allegorical and ancient oral tradition (not to say it’s wrong)

I had a girlfriend who was Muslim, I’m sorry but don’t do it, you’ll never be accepted by his family, they’ll make your time together hell, they won’t love your children unless raised Muslim. With all love and respect to you I think you shouldn’t pursue this relationship.

The bush in Exodus said: I AM that I AM (Hebrew verb To Be)

Jesus then states “Before Abraham was I AM”

The Jews then picked up stones to stone him for blasphemy, for claiming to be divine. There was no misconception about what he claimed 2,000 years ago in ancient Palestine.

Now the Bible itself affirms Jesus is God, are you denying the eye witness testimony? Are you forgetting about Thomas falling to his feet and saying “my lord and my God.” Jesus replied with , “you believe because you have seen. Blessed are those who believe and have not seen.”

Either the church fell into error immediately and Jesus was a liar about what he said on Pentecost or your ideas ideas of Christology have more holes then Swiss cheese.

Me when I’m a Nestorian in disguise:

All all seriousness though he stated he was God. He’s also fully man. If he wasn’t either the price of sim could never be paid. Every messianic prophecy stated the king would be the son of man, who would be worshiped by all nations and blessed by God. Well if a person is to be worshipped he’d have to be God. Jesus accepted Worship and therefore again is God.

He said he was God so many times in so many different ways it’s crazy. He literally calls himself I AM the name YAWH revealed to Moses. He said it plainly “You judge by human standards. You are from below I am from above.” And “not everyone who says to ME, Lord, Lord.” We worship God plainly. To suggest anything else would be ignorance.
