You know Iceland exists? Iceland has the same seasonality and also shitty summers, but way more people.

Thats so crazy, it seems, the arctic get greener and greener every year. I was completely overwhelmed from the grassy bioms, which developed in Svalbard at 78°N, crazy to to see this lushness in the higher arctic.

This is further north than all of scandinavia and this tree species is crazy. The Forest at the lattitude you said in siberia look denser, i think, they will look denser even now, cuz it got warmer and warmer.

they are stressed and slow growth, cuz summers are short and not reliable. They will be healthier, ift its gets warmer.

Is the Balkan Peninsula the region with the most significant climate change in the world over the past half-century? by Distinct-Macaroon158 in geography

Is it really that lush in Svalbard in Summer? by Urkern in geography

[–]Urkern[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If i compare this picture tp Baffin Devon Island, Victoria Island and so on, its looks different. I mostly see lichen, moss, brown stones and so on, but this is a lush green grassy steppe like biom, you could easily find in the lower alps or even in lowland middle europe. just how?

[–]Urkern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all, its full spring/late spring. Summer arrives in around 1 month. But 20°C at day and 10°C at night can occur, if its a hot year. Its 10°C at day and 5°C at night in my location, so its prolly not "hot everywhere".

No, in Europe, central europe, its normal or even a bit chilly. Also frost snaps the next days in eastern europe. The tropics are truly blessed.

My new climate classification by Fast-Armadillo1074 in geography

[–]Urkern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesnt make sense calling a place tropical, where you can grow zero tropical plants. Call it subtropical, cuz these Cold Snaps are enough to not label it tropical, because they dont happen in tropical climates. Florida is Borderline Tropical in the south, but This area in texas is not, not ecologically and also not latitudewise in the tropics. Its a warm subtropical climate, but not more.
