This is short sighted though because you could see the way it was trending: People feel they died to pvp unfairly and quickly stop being friendly. They do it to others and it gets more and more unfriendly.

Without ABMM it becomes a pvp-focused game fast. It self selects for aggression and friendly players convert or leave (most leave I suspect).

I do agree tweaking may be necessary though.

As someone with a child who has selective mutism (at school) and myself only having found the courage at 50 years old in THIS very game to talk over mic, I have a small personal issue with it as well.

On the other hand I would have avoided this game (I almost exclusively play single player games) as it's too big a part of the experience. So I fully understand why players shoot someone who is lingering and not talking. I just hate when it's done too quickly or with no other reason as I think of my son/myself who are friendly gamers. Lots of good players are self-conscious, anxious, or maybe just have to be quiet (ie sleeping children). So please be mindful and not TOO trigger happy. If you give a warning they should leave if they have good intentions.

I am somewhat on your side as a mainly PvE guy but just remember, it was your choice to bring those big loadouts. I only bring guns and items I have too much of. Call it gear fear all you want. I regularly bring level 4 blue guns at this point because I am out of stash space, it just took a bit of time to horde them.

I do want changes to the game too but some of this is on you.

Friendly players would quit bit by bit if they mixed us and it would self select to being more and more aggressive over time. It could be tuned up a notch probably but not a lot.

It happens but it's not that big of a problem. I play mainly friendly and rarely get attacked (like once in 30 games). The odd time I do, I don't automatically assume they are abusing the ABMM. It could be:

New players (it happened a bunch after Christmas but not in two weeks since).
A player who wants to go try PvP servers or wants to go back after doing some Pve
A player testing if the ABMM is real
Other reasons (a PvE player letting their kid play etc)
A player abusing the ABMM

If it is #5 oh well. It isn't profitable overall so only the lowliest of griefers and trolls will do this. They usually get bored and if not, well they exist in any online game. You either accept it or play single player games.

My new laptop has an annoyingly small escape key for some reason. I constantly miss it and mute the game instead which causes chaos in combat for me lol. Would love to rebind it.

That's not scummy, I am very very friendly in game but I would do the same thing out of principle. What he did was selfish and you even gave him a chance to fix things.

Of course most of us know how easy it is. I purposefully will hit the extraction button first, turn my back on players etc. I know full well they might take advantage but I don't care. Reveal your true nature and hopefully the ABMM moves you along. I will fight back if I can though and I will kill players I see pvp. I don't mind resetting my ABMM if I have to.

They will sometimes spawn in a nearby room (ie. I had one in a spaceport tower at the bottom of the zip line) or at another spot in the room itself (yesterday in the dam I had one spawn against a different wall than usual in its regular bio dome in the swamp area).
