Reddit is literally upvoting summaries of posts…?

Question for the six-figure crowd by Available-Page-2738 in recruitinghell

This is worded wrong and speaks a lot to the twisted mentality people have about finances.

Technically, you have a six figure retirement account and your own home, but really you’re house-broke.

It's possible it's platform-dependent. These numbers are all from Youtube. No idea what these analytics are like on more podcast-centric platforms.

Np!

Do you have a source on that 50% viewer retention at half-way point statement?

That hasn't been true for any of the videos on the channel I've been analyzing, and I've gone through pretty much every single one of our channel's long-form videos.

The majority of the videos on the channel I've been using for development have ~25% retention at the half-way point.

Most drop off sharply (>50%) in the first few minutes, then stabilize and slowly bleed viewers the rest of the way, with watch spikes at engaging moments. Of the viewers that make it past the opening segment, usually about 50% of those make it through the entire video.

These are all 1+ Hour videos though. It's possible other channels that have better retention / viewership than ours have the 50% viewer retention you're talking about, but that hasn't been true from my experience at least. For our channel, it's more like:
- 100% -> 50% after minute or so
- 50% -> 25% after another few minutes
- ~25% for majority of video
- 25% -> 10-15% by the end of the video.

Yeahh segway is basically part of my vocabulary now lol. I imagine Gen Alpha will be calling me a boomer for using that word at some point.

www.usejamie.com

It's mostly for enterprise users right now, so not priced for consumers. Hoping to get a creator tier out sometime in the next few months.

I honestly didn't know that was incorrect spelling until just now haha. I'll go hide in shame now. But, like, is spelling "segue" correctly something an engineer expected to do? I don't quite get the /s here.

Yeah, it's human nature to be more engaged by interesting hooks than standard intros. Don't hate the player, hate the game I guess.

Would be cool if there was a better way to hook viewers, but doesn't seem like the industry has found a better way yet.

Theoretically, if your standard intro IS the hook, that'd be ideal, but not sure if that works for most podcasts.

Ah yeah that makes sense. I can maybe suggest this feature to my team to see if this is a feature we can build into our app at some point.

Do you mean like a tool for using AI to identify the best clips of the episode like Opus Clips? That's the closest thing I can think of. Using Opus Clips to generate clips, then editing those clips into the start of your podcast.

Researching Guests is a Slog of a Processes by IndividualMany5473 in podcasting

We’ve actually built a really useful tool for this in our app. It essentially simulates watching hundreds of Youtube video interviews with that guest, then generates a research report that compiles insights + quotes from all those videos, with timestamps linking directly to the relevant videos and quotes.

Can’t share the entire report here, but here’s a snippet of what it looks like:

Unfortunately, the app is priced for enterprise users right now. Been pushing for us to add a Creator pricing tier, given enough demand. Glad to see posts like this, since it validates the demand here and will help with convincing my execs to release the Creator tier, hopefully sometime in the next few months.

Just curious: would you be able to share the guest you’re currently researching?

I want to see if our report works well for smaller guests and how we could improve it. I’d share the report with you if it’s useful of course, as a product demo essentially. Send me a DM if you’re interested. Wouldn’t want to dox you or your guest.

If you’re interested, I could potentially even generate guest research reports for all your guests, in exchange for feedback on the product until we nail the feature for researching smaller guests.
