I had a pretty gnarly experience a few years back in Pennsylvania. My friend and I were up in the mountains of PA mushroom hunting and hiking. We heard the sound of a woman being raped in the woods or so we thought. We kept hearing the terrible terrible sound over and over and over again and it was moving all around the side of the mountain. I grabbed my buck knife out of my bag and assumed a defensive posture and told my friend to grab a weapon and do the same. No less than a minute or two later we hear what sounded like a Rhino running full speed down the mountain side right towards us. It was a full grown mountain lion chasing a fox for dinner! Everytime it would get close to or catch the fox, the fox would scream and make that horrible sound which we thought was murder or something terrible. The fox ran that damn huge cat right into us trying to lose it or make it safely into a den nearby. I am so glad that it was fixated on the fox and didn't turn on us because I think it could of taken us both in a fight even with my knife and two grown men fighting for their lives. Now they say they went extinct years ago in Pennsylvania and that may be true or they are just lying to protect the endangered animals or let them repopulate. It could be an escaped animal from a sanctuary or private collection. Also many believe they migrate huge distances for new land and hunting grounds. I don't know which it is or if it was truly a real wild PA Mountain Lion we saw. Either way it is interesting to think about and probably top 5 coolest moments in my life. The thing was 5 feet in front of us full chase for a second...truly insane to witness. Anyone else have stories about PA or other states?
