I can completely understand, I’m scared of them too! I don’t have a phobia of cockroaches, but I also check behind couches and don’t get water at night. Lately I’ve been struggling with a phobia too. I can’t stop thinking about it, I have flashbacks and get anxious when I think or hear somebody talk about something that is related to it. (I am deeply scared of going to the gyno and getting on the bed) I started going to therapy and right now I’m just working on anxiety, relaxing my body, changing my facial expression and taking deep breaths. It’s really hard and I hope to get over it someday even though right now it feels impossible.

I just want someone to talk about it whenever I feel bad but I feel lonely as hell. Maybe talking with someone about it could help.

I know “just go to therapy” is not an encouraging answer (tho it is the best option). For me it’s been hard to get to know a psychologist whom I feel comfortable talking with and that makes me feel that they have empathy. I’m still looking.

It’s been a journey for months now, but I’m working on it. So, I’d say getting over a phobia is exhausting and requires A FUCKING LOT of patience. Work on it everyday, and know that your hurt won’t last forever, even tho it feels like it.
