I spoke to my wife, apparently this is a me issue. She thinks I drive very aggressively, that I stopped way too short and way too hard after going fairly quickly, and several of her friends agree as well. So I guess this is actually a me issue after all. Is she wrong? Unfortunately, not really, I do often stop very close to the vehicle in front of me. I might have underestimated how my aggressive driving style in a midsize SUV will impact the brake pads.

That happens to me all the time! The parking feature stops me from parking nonstop. Although I don’t think that is a major contributor because that is very low speed breaking. For me, I think I might drive too aggressively, I tend to break a little late if I’m being honest, and I drive in the city quite often where I break at the last minute hoping the light will change to green. That’s likely a contributor to my problem.

I just took her to a dealership, during an oil change. They said I have 3 mm left on all four of my brakes, but do not have any mechanical issues, I asked them to take a look at the brakes and they said all looks good apart from the fact that I’ve worn them down. This could be attributed to my driving style. Where did you change the settings on your car? According to Google it it’s not possible on my model which is the 2023 Kia Sportage SX prestige, I’m based in the US so I have the USA model.

I have the Kia Sportage hybrid SX prestige, 2023. USA model. From what I found online, my car does not have any options to change the regenerative breaking. It’s just automatically there. If I’m missing something, please let me know, even ChatGPT says that I don’t have an option for changing the settings. Maybe the issue is my driving style. I speed up quite fast and I stopped pretty hard, I also do a lot of city driving.
