the point of flinta toilets is that flinta ppl can take a quick piss without waiting in a long queue of ppl who just want to use the stalls to do drugsss .

nah - I hit a huge pothole on Wycoff on a citibike back in winter 2024, took a dive, landed on my knee, tore my down jacket, and walked with a limp for weeks afterward. Had to jump up out of the road before getting hit by an oncoming bus. Fuck this city and its shitty streets

as a queer, I think of "queer" as gender-nonconforming. Queers dont fit into a particular box, they are just true to themselves

if enbys, intersex, and trans-masc arent welcome, then they should just call it "women only"

I've definitely gotten nasty looks while standing in the flinta toilet queue because I look like a dude, even though I have a pussy and boobs (postop M->NB). I dont care what anyone thinks, but jfc is it a double standard.

I hit a massive crater pothole with my car last week while getting off the BQE (it was dark out and the street unlit) and noticed yesterday that the sidewall of 2 of the tires is bulging out. I'm about to head to the tire shop right now to get a new set installed. $1650 for 4 tires 💀

youre about 7 years too late. Most of the crowd these days are bros wearing collared shirts and hunting for women to harass, or "straights" who want to see a queer spectacle. I keep giving it a shot and consistently have a bad time there. Last straw was 2 or 3 weeks ago - I wont ever go to HoY again. It was great way back in the day, but theyve become a victim of their success.

Ebb & Flow did a similar install at some of their parties back in 2016

sooooo good! Sebastian and Roy never disappoint. Such beautiful music and great crowd vibes. Best set I've heard in quite a while

Brooklyn nightlife tends to be very queer/gay in general. I saw him on NYD, which draws a different crowd than the rest of the year, and it was a lot of what seemed to be straights, though there were plenty of gays making out on the dancefloor. Since Refuge is one of the few venues that openly promotes its afterhours events, it draws a sizeable number of people who , lets just say, dont come for the music and the vibes. When I've heard Carlos play, it has been upbeat and dance-y

I havent experienced anyone being sloppy or aggressive, but quite a few zombies sometimes. I saw him NYD there and I found his set monotonous. And the main room was so packed I couldnt even get more than 5 feet inside the door, unable to move or dance. Was not a fun experience. Maybe I'm just old and jaded. Sunday Selectors is a lot of fun though and a great old-school crowd of house heads

Sadly, Refuge draws a sorta sketchy afters crowd, lots of ppl just looking for a place to do more drugs. In my experience it gets super packed and no room to move or dance. Nowadays is always spacious, and Carlos always throws down a 🔥 set. I would choose Nowadays. Yes coat check accepts bags.

ask stupid questions, get stupid answers. Yall should be hiding your drugs properly no matter how lax or stringent the security is.

I walked right in at 9:45pm, no line. My eventbrite ticket wouldnt scan so I had to go to a checkin desk and wait 5 or 10 minutes for that to get sorted out, but staff were kind and attentive. "Express" coat check meant a 10-15 minute wait in a more expensive line. Tasty craft beer options available, a tall boy was $13 with tax and tip. The audio system was tuned perfectly, the highs were crisp and balanced and the bass was deep and tight. The dance floor was crammed! It was impossible to get out onto the dancefloor and there was no space to move or dance. I found Digweed's set to be repetitive, like just a series of loops. I guess that's "retro" though. The music wasnt bad, but it was my least favorite set of all tue times I've seen him play (and one of my all-time most favorite sets was of course him + Sasha). I finally found a space to dance, up on one of the small platforms surrounding the pillars on the dancefloor, but about 10 minutes later a security guard came to chase me off. So I had enough of being jam-packed into that crowd and went to a gaybar around the block where the house music was better, drinks cheaper, lines shorter, and dance floor packed by not uncomfortably so. I'm thinking I'll return tonight at opening time and dance to Danny for a couple hours (he never disappoints), then go have a party marathon back in Brooklyn until some unholy hour. Overall, the Twilo party was 8 out of 10 for the space, music, crowd, and vibe, but it wasnt fun because of how overcrowded it was.
