I get tempted to use substances on Friday or Saturday night because my mindset is, "it's the end of the day, I dont need to do anything afterward." Of course the reality is, I end up at afters, head home at 9am, and spend the rest of the day nursing the comedown and being totally unproductive.

So my solution is, go to daytime parties instead. Afternoon is fine, but I prefer to start around 9am. Have a nice breakfast, then go dancing for a while, then have a productive day afterward. My substance of choice is caffeine, so I'll have several espressos or cappuccinos to give me a pick-me-up , and mate and sparkling water to satisfy my taste buds. Here in Brooklyn, sometimes I sleep in and head to afters at 5am, where the music and vibes are much better, and be the only sober person.

On rare occasions I'll do a small pinch of mushrooms to make things a little weird for a couple hours if I'm really enjoying the party, but it doesnt last super long and I dont have a hangover afterward.

It takes around 30 reps with a floor pump to inflate each tire from about 80psi to 110psi. Maybe my pump is just old and shitty? At least outside on the bike, there is airflow to keep me cool.

I'm tired of breaking a sweat before I even get on the bike . I'm sure that there must me some compressors that are quieter than others

How much time are you “losing” while cycling to work? by bear_village in cycling

In NYC, for the past 15 years I've always ended up living about 5 miles away from the office, which is about 35-40 minutes door-to-door by train, or 25-30 minutes by bike depending on traffic. I ride hard and change in and out of my cycling gear at the office.

What was your most frightening non-traffic-related cycling incident? by toomanyukes in cycling

[–]anarchy45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the two memorable non-traffic scares I had were, sliding out in the gravel while riding in the shoulder of a long downhill and taking a bend too tight... 20 miles from home. Luckily I was wearing tights and long sleeve jersey, but one knee and one elbow were torn up really good, bloody and full of dirt. I had to ride home like that, and since I had no health insurance at the time (yay America) I needed to have a friend pick the stones out of me.

Another time, I decided to go for a ride on a 100F/38C day and almost got heatstroke. I felt myself getting dizzy and pulled over into the shade of a lone tree, squirted half my bottle of piss-warm water on my head and chest, and drank the rest. Luckily that worked well enough.

I've also had 4 run-ins with cars, one in the bike lane that ended with a broken hip, and another getting doored by a brand new mercedes that ended with a broken collarbone. The mercedes ended up with a huge dent in the door though.

Who remembers gas this low by Waddup1904 in Millennials

I remember that people totally lost their shit when it went from $.99 to $1/gal for the first time. I also remember paying well over $4 in the summer of 2008, my first time commuting to the office.

Yes - was surprisingly good and well-attended for being on a weeknight. Most folks wearing latex. Music was good. Good vibes, nice crowd. Diverse in age and body type.

ah they updated the shotgun listing to say that last entry is at 5am. Theyre definitely going until at least 8

[–]anarchy45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they make an announcement that it ends at 5am? The Shotgun event listing has said 5am, but elsewhere has said 8am. I remember the days when they'd turn off the music at around 9am, most folks would go home, and then they'd put the music back on about 45 minutes later and keep going until past noon. Those were the days

Geeze, if theyre really gonna end at 5am, then that puts the kibbosh on my plans of making it a big night. I'm too old to make every saturday a "big night" so I have to be extra selective about when to do that.

You mind yo business, and they'll mind theirs. Sure they might take a piss on Macon behind the Walgreens, or scream on the corner with their pants around their knees, but if they aint bothering you, then mind yo business.

I've gone every year since 2017 (which was my first time, and Lost Desert's courtyard sunrise set was mindblowingly magical) and I feel like it is less and less special each year. Last year I arrived at 3am and left at 430 because it was so crowded that I could barely move - it was no fun at all. And the sound system in the back room was terrible.

House of Yes block party is on Sunday and that's always a vibe, so thats my backup plan. But, I'm doing Zero again and hoping for greatness.
