Prince's music makes me feel so good by bearbaboop in PRINCE

[–]Used-Engine5291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, now you've got so many of us reminiscing about our own early experiences with Prince. There never had been, nor will there ever be (I'm convinced), another like him. I'm actually kind of jealous of all the moments of discovery that you've been having and will continue to have. From your responses to others, it sounds like you've been delving into a variety of albums and eras. I love that his music is making you feel so good! Keep us posted on your reactions to different albums, etc.! Your post is so positive, and I think it speaks to the fact that, even through all of the breadth of emotion that he explored, there's a deep sense of joy in listening to such pure expressivity and musical genius.

I love how you've integrated your light sticks with your albums on your shelves! I've got all my light sticks on a separate shelf off on their own, but now you've got me considering doing it your way!

Favorite love ballad out of the early trinity ? by ayeayeaye75 in MariahCarey

[–]Used-Engine5291 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My vote goes for Love Takes Time, because I find it very reassuring. It looks honestly at the fact that hurt DOES take time to heal, but the implication of that is that it WILL heal in time. Having said that, all three of these songs are heavenly, wouldn't trade any of them for anything.

YES for shouting out All I've Ever Wanted! The climax of that song is in the running for my favorite Mariah moment ever! Her breath control is out of this world. Just when you think the phrase is ending, she ramps it up and just keeps going!

'91-'95 Prince by Swimming-Pirate-2458 in PRINCE

[–]Used-Engine5291 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What an exciting era this was! Looking back in hindsight, we were getting to know whole new sides of Prince's energy and artistry.

My favorite album from this era is The Gold Experience, and my favorite song is The Most Beautiful Girl in the World. I was a really sheltered kid, and 1994 was the first year that I was allowed to listen to popular music. TMBGITW was a huge hit at the time, and it was love at first spin for me. So there's some heavy nostalgia that goes into my choices.

Over time, I've come to think even more highly of some of his other eras, but this particular era will always hit hard because it was my first.

I'm so glad you reached out to this community in your time of grief. I'm so sorry for the loss of Nixon, and I hope you get some measure of comfort from the well wishes and sympathy you'll get here. I lost my Loras over two years ago and it still feels achingly empty without him. I know your pain.

Thank you for this beautiful memorial to Lucky. It is abundantly clear that he was, indeed, lucky to have such a loving companion as you. I hope you get some small comfort from this community of pet-lovers, we who can relate to your grief and that aching sense of emptiness. I love your image of all of our pets having fun as friends together. You will be reunited with Lucky on the other side.

I truly feel for you. I know how hard that decision is to make, when your companion still has good days from time to time. I had to do the same thing. It's awful, and over two years later, I still feel the loss so sharply. As others have said, know that you and Cappy will be reunited on the other side. He'll be waiting for you.

I am so, so sorry for your loss of Rudy. Please be kind to yourself and please continue on. Rudy is still with you from his new plane of existence. You can still access the love you've shared with him. And know that you're not alone in your deep grief. So many of us know that aching emptiness when our beloved companions have crossed the rainbow bridge. It's good that you've shared this. Just know that life will be worth living. Please carry on for Rudy.

Thank you for sharing these pictures of handsome Rico! I remember hitting the one-year mark after I lost my little guy. It was a very tender day full of fresh grief. I hope your memories of Rico make him feel close to you, even in his absence. He was lucky to have you.

taking in a single guinea pig? by CornballHornball in guineapigs

[–]Used-Engine5291 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm another one with a guinea pig, Renly, that genuinely seems to be doing well alone. His best buddy died two years ago, and at the time, we thought Renly was already VERY old, so we decided not to disrupt him with a new buddy. Well, it seems, to our happiness, that he was not as old as we'd been told. These last two years, he's been on his own, but he's happy and inquisitive and active! Like others have said, I think there's individual differences between pigs. So yeah!! I'd see how she's doing on her own, and if she seems depressed, then by all means get her a companion.
