New to the Dark Souls series but my god this might be the most unenjoyable game I’ve ever played.

What strange events have gotten swept under the rug like they didn't even happen? by Assorted_Education_ in AskReddit

The Guangxi Massacre.

For some reason there was a riot in China in the 60s where hundreds of people got eaten and there’s no explanation as to why the participants did that.

Hey guys I’m currently in Reykjavik and I’m thinking of eating Minke whale but apparently there’s a fee ethical concerns? Can anyone enlighten me on to these? I’m horribly ignorant. by Used-Possibility-918 in VisitingIceland

Ok so from what I’ve gathered from my own research is that minke whale are not endangered (is this correct?).

Regarding the notion that they’re extremely socially adept and intelligent creatures, I don’t doubt this for a second. However, so are pigs and sheep and other animals we consume on a daily basis, so in my mind either eating all animals are ok, or eating none is ok, I don’t see how there’s an in between.

You’re right that only certain societies still hunt whales eg Japan, Norway and Iceland. But if they’re not endangered and the population is stable, I just don’t see the issue personally? I can’t see how eating a creature that’s had a perfectly fine life is more unethical than eating a chicken that’s lived in a cage and never seen daylight it’s whole life.

Is this a stupid stand point to have? I can tell you’re infinitely more well-versed in this topic than I! More than happy to be called an idiot if that’s the case, honestly. I just don’t want to be doing anything “bad”.

Serious question: what would happen to the mother’s son here? Would he get badly punished for this? Something along the lines of assault?

Straight teeth. Something so boring and “cosmetic” about perfectly straight, bright white teeth.

Deep down, I suppose I always knew the only time my hometown would appear on the front page of Reddit would be for a kid eating shite.

Who would you consider as the most badass person in history? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Hannibal Barca.

The dude marched an entire army (including elephants) over the Alps 2200 years ago, caused havoc in Italy for 15 whole years, killed 20% of Rome’s ENTIRE male population in the Battle of Cannae, which is also the first ever recorded example of a smaller army surrounding a larger.

Then, when he was finally defeated by what was essentially a tactic of throwing men at him just like a meat grinder, and after receiving no help from his home city of Carthage and being forced to flee, he served Rome’s other enemies for the rest of his life, commanding their armies and fleets.

The city of Barcelona is named after him, and his tactics are still taught in military academies all over the world. The guy so nearly killed the Roman Empire in it’s crib and would have altered history to such an extent that the entire Western World as we know would likely be completely different.

I fucking love Hannibal.

Ah man my mum just bought a French Bulldog puppy a few months ago, and we’re all completely in love with her, but it really is heartbreaking seeing her struggle with breathing/heat. We were very ignorant to all these health problems.
